Why the sudden decision to get a suit? I thought about getting a suit once and then realized I had no reason to ever wear one. I have a suit in closet I got for my grandmas funerals (all three of my grandmas died in the same year), but that’s the only time I’ve worn one in close to a decade.

I'm not 20~ anymore, I can't wear skate shoes/sneakers and hoodies for the rest of my life, so I kinda wanted to be slighty more "serious", but not too excessive like a lifestyle as @dalpat077 said. That is just not for me, I read it all and not gonna lie it kinda scared me :D. Even if I had the money I couldn't live that life, because I have my own "rules", that's why I was looking for a cheap/modest alternative JUST FOR special occasion (a funeral, a wedding...I can't go there with Carhartt hoodie + beanie like a Breaking Bad character).

The fact is thank to you all, now I know what this -lifestyle- is about, and no, I don't want to be part of it frankly. I will stick with some black jeans and a white shirt, probably with a wool V-Neck Sweatshirt. That is the most "classy-elegant" I can be, and I feel confortable (I used to dress like this when I was doing the IT technician).

With a suit, a tie, and some shiny leather shoes I would probably be out of place and awkward af. I can't see myself dressed up like some GTA mafia boss or smth...

See. This is the problem with the younger generation. No ambition! :ROFLMAO:

(And I had to look up "GTA" and "smth") (and people wonder why my posts are so long)!

If only I knew back in the '80's what I know now...

And here I thought we'd be moving onto discussing evening wear (dinner suits, dress shirts, patent leather shoes)! Guess not! 😭

Mafia boss? Give me some credit! 🤩

It's not about ambition or new generations. I have ambition on other things, but as a normal human being with a normal job (assuming I have one), and a normal life, I don't really see the point in putting all that $$$ and effort just for a suit, or signed underwear, or for a luxury car and all that stuff.

Yes it is classy no doubt, but whats the point if you live in an apartment with 3 junkie students and your car is a Escort from '96, and your only meat is a can of tuna? You know what I'm saying, this lifestyle is not designed for everyone.

And I already knew this, but I wanted just a bit of "elegance" for very extra situations (in case they will happen), in fact I didn't say "complete suit with tie and armani shoes" but my main question was refering to the top jacket, something similar, that's it.

I repeat, I appreciate your whole post about it @dalpat077 don't get me wrong, for me it was (is) an unknown world so reading all that stuff really helped me understanding how it works, so don't feel you wrote for nothing, instead.

Like, imagine you want to go to a rave party but your outfit consists only in suits and ties, and you have no experience at all.....I guess you have no idea how to dress/behave, but if you open a topic asking that, I will write you a reply so long that it exceedes the number of characters and I would have to post another one below to finish it...

Hey.

I'm sorry. There was more that I wanted to post after my last post but had to run off for something.

What I wanted to add was this:

You need to do what makes you feel good and what suits you as a person. That is key.

My post above re: ambition, or lack thereof, was just my way of taking the piss is all (and as which some around these parts will know gets me in trouble often).

I don't function proper without all the trimmings and the trappings. And I judge myself by what I do or don't have materially. Let the psychoanalysis begin! :ROFLMAO:

Honest truth: I admire people who are content within themselves and don't need all of the shit as described. And I would hazard a guess and say that you're one of those people. So take no notice of my rhetoric. :)

Somehow I knew that. Don't ask me how because I don't know myself.

And excuse me if I may? My post was worthy of more than just a lame "Like"!
It’s mostly because I look damn fine in a suit. Even casual blazers look good on me, as can be seen in the post a selfie thread 😘

Oh really? I don't frequent that thread (too scared to for fear of what I might find) (ignorance is bliss type of thing). Might be worth a trip down there though (well now anyway)! 🙃

Thanks for the updated "Like" though! Better! 🥰
