Why are a lot of otakus sexist?

As an otaku, I know very well that sexism is strong in anime fans... Now that's the fault of the otaku men themselves for living alone and not meeting any women and basing their views on stereotypes of women.
But it's also womens fault. Women constantly end up living up to such stereotypes and validating sexism. All they have to do is be the sexist stereotype men think they are.

Now... let me quote a commenter to start off by getting a good idea how a lot of otaku think of women

"I'd take an android lass over todays woman at the drop of a hat. Now granted not -every- woman is like that, but the majority are. And if were going through the western world standard of women, pretty much 98% are all of what has been talked about. Lying, cheating, ect. There really is no bid of equality like some people preach; never was, never will be. Or rather treated as more of an "exotic" treat once we've jumped into the age of android partners. It generally applies to both sexes. Both being able to artificially reproduce and tune their mechanical partners to match their inner desires. Women will have their lacky-droid to do everything for them while they sit on their asses. Men will do what they do in 2D fantasy land. Though once that age comes around, we'll be seeing a lot more fat women, lol. For not being able to afford it? Well it's worth the money hording and working over time for. SHIT IS SO CASH!"


Now, I'm going to explain how this attitude is reinforced by anime/manga...
1. Anime girls are infinitely sweeter than real women. No woman is a sweet, cute, kind, or nice as an anime girl. Why is that? Because real women are human. Anime girls are fictional characters who are practically designed to be superior to regular women. They're over-idealized women and if you have more experiance with anime than real women, then you'll have unhealthy standards

2. Anime girls are all skinny, cute and perfect. Girls can't have huge boobs and no body fat anywhere else, it doens't work that way. Not without shit tons of photoshop. As a result, anime, idols, Western models, and porn actresses create a standard of beauty which is unattainable by the average woman.

3. Anime love stories are way to overidealized. Anime romance is based on the fantasies of whichever demographic it's targetted too. Shoujo romance is about perfect guys to titillate teen girls. And Shonen romance is about beautiful sexy women who unrealistically fall for a loser guy. A real person can't learn anything about love/relationships by watching that stuff

But now onto my second point... Women help shape sexism. Lets face it... blacks, gays, women... EVERYONE has a hand in their own stereotypes. Stereotypes come from observation. Women cannot blame men 100% for sexism. Becuase sexist stereotypes are reinforced and strengthed by women. Females actually breed more misogyny and sexism than men do (in developed nations)

When women act like this... You can no longer blame men for sexism.

I admit I'm a little sexist... But if 80% of the women a guy meets are all bitches, then what perception of women is a man gonna have? I'm gonna be honest. Women have no right to complain about sexism if they act like stereotypes. Because they're proving sexist men right.

you are such a bitter sexist. just because women dont want to fuck geeky anime fans doesnt make them bitches. some of them do like geeks, but not the kind of geeks that fantasize over a AI girlfriend and sit with other men playing dungeons and dragons slating women because they cant get them.

there isnt relly a stereotypal woman, there are differences between the sexes and if you dont like them then you dont like women. of course some of them are morons, but theres plenty of moronic male anime fans too. lots of people are mean, regardless of their sex.

im a man, but im a feminist and i love women for their differences to men. you need to meet more women and talk to them and learn to understand them instead of sniping on them online.

I think you misinterpreted this thread. I wasn't saying sexism was a good thing. But there are stereotypes associated with women. And people who don't get the opportunity to meet a lot of good women will inevitably believe in those stereotypes.

I also think it's stupid to assume that men like me are the whole reason why people think negatively about women and are sexist. I'm just pointing out that women who do act like bitches keep sexism alive.
There are good women in the world, most of them I met are bitches, but there's a lot of good girls and women in the world too... Can it really be stated that women aren't atleast indirectly responsible for me having sexist misconeptions? When my sexist, narrow minded views were inspired by women? I mean... Where do sexist assholes like me get these ideas about women? In that sense, it's clear that when girls act like cunts, they teach sexism.
 
and i know you werent saying sexism is a good thing, but youre blaming sexism on women. pointing out differences in gender isnt sexism in my opinion, but saying 80% of women are bitches is.

men like you arent the only reason sexism exists, there are many different kinds of sexists: but mainly its people who see a stuck up bitch or a stupid blonde or a whore or whatever before they see a person who may be behaving that way for reasons other than what their genitals look like.

(I don't think all women are like this, but this what the opposite sex has shown me)

Out of all the ones I've met.. I think I've met 4 who aren't loud, selfish, lying, superficial, greedy or slutty. And when I say slutty, I don't mean they like sex a lot.. I mean having no standards of who they fuck. Well, most of them I've met have standards, but those standards are based on popularity.
And they're just mean... not like when guys are mean. When we're mean it's to prove something... In my experience, male bullying is just one big dick measuring contest to build yourself up. But with girls, it's different. They really want you to feel as bad as possible and love to see others hurt. Us guys just wanna be cool, while girls really enjoy and love seeing people weak suffer.
The only nice girls I've ever known were overly sheltered girls from strict religious households. And that's because they haven't been corrupted by society. Anyone would be nice then.

I only want casual sex, and I don't ever want a real girlfriend. However, even if I wasn't, I could only think of probably 1 out of the many that I've met that I'd even consider wanting to be with.

if you are in high school, then youll soon see that your views are very narrow. just try talking to girls, man. bitches love talking....now thats sexist! (but true).

have you ever had a girlfriend? you say that you only want casual sex; do you only see talking to women as a means of getting into their knickers? maybe you dont have a lot to talk to women about because your hobbies and interests are largely male orientated, like manga and whatever?

I'm 19. I know all women aren't that way... However, it seems like the ones who aren't are the ones who are defying this materialistic american culture. I don't think women are bad, I think society makes a lot of them bad.

But really I made this thread explaining sexism and how both women and men contribute to it. I also pointed out how media like anime can contribute to it by having perfect, over-idealized women. I've never had a girlfriend and don't want one. But that's not sexist, I just hate the idea of love and relationships. However, I know that the perfect image of a "sweet, kind, innocent girl" that loves unconditionally is simply fiction.
 
actually, mate, its not fiction at all. its a rare thing, but theyre out there. dont be such a pessimist!

work out, stop sitting in darkened rooms watching anime by yourself all the time, make friends with some women and stop hating!
 
Japanese society and culture have both been pretty sexist against women for centuries, and still is in a lot of ways.
