well, i just shelled out a shiteload of money on a nice new digital slr :D

time to live a 10 year dream of starting up doing some photography...

so.. is anyone else on this forum into photography??? if so, what sort? what's your favourite thing to photograph??

but... more importantly, show off some of your proudest work!! (i'll start.. soon.. ;))

also, and tips for good things to photograph? things that may be a little out of the ordinary? or even good places to go, like botanical gardens etc etc.. :D

My attempt at getting the cool water look. It's obvious I didn't have a tripod. Would of turned out alright I think if I didn't have the shakes!

Playing with different appature settings with the clouds.

Taken from the same spot, just with altered settings.

Different night. Once again, changing settings. This and the next photo are taken in the same spot a few seconds apart, only the F-stop has changed. (I think)

Macro's are kinda cool. This is the centre of a Gerbrer.

I really want to get back into Photography. I love it but I can't find inspiration at the moment, which is partly my fault.

Post details of the camera you bought! I'm a closet photography geek too, and would one day like to persue it to see how strong my passion really is. So for the technically minded, give us all the gory details of your new toy! :D

xcidium - you take some really really great photos :)

you seem to have a great eye for framing and composition....(not that i know anything about photography :\)

i've always wanted to get into photography - i recently bought a camera phone which of course has shittest shit quality camera, but i've really enjoyed finally being able to capture some of those cool things i see out and about.

when i grow up i want to be like muzby and have a digital SLR camera ;)

i'd love to learn the basics properly....maybe when i have the money/time :D

Yes...I love photography!! I have a blog which you can find if you look hard enough. It supports my hobby of taking pictures.

My camera is in the repair shop right now but here are some recent pics:
The first 4 are various places in Japan.
The last 2 are Brisbane.

Before anyone else mentions it, there are some awesome photo amateur friend groups on Live Journal - - - I'll PM you the address to a private one where people share their work and critique it and share pointers. :).

Well done on achieving your dream - - - there should be more of that! :):D:).

Meeee!

I have a Canon EOS 300D, though I'm thinking of selling it and buying a 20D. I like to take photos of my children.

And other things, but I can't find any photos of them right now.

Here's another more 'arty' photo. It's an airconditioning duct in Seoul airport.

Nice too xcidium! Looking forward to Muzby's pics. Get shootin'!

cool pics.

pillsnapa: love that last one. im not sure if its the loo in supermans fortress of solitude, or its a rudie bits on a giant female robot. if the latter she should really get herself checked out; that green cant be healthy

Oh my god, if ever a thread could be for me then this is it. It's a life long dream would be to quit work and become a professional photographer and I reckon that I could do it. But in order to make the jump, I've got to become a photoshop guru (if only I could master that fucking selection tool on an 8 Megapixel image :X)

I've been an everywhere ametuer photographer for the last year and I've just started to look into using photoshop to get the best out of my photos. But I'll post later when I have some of my handy work available.

Can anyone recomend any good photography short courses? Or even short courses in photoshop that are worthwhile doing? Or any online sites that have lots of good information and tutorials?

Oh, and to all those that have a canon - those are the ones I've been eying off for ages now! From the sounds of it I'm looking at the right ones! :D

Did someone say amateur pornography? Well, I dabble in amateur por.....

:D

This looks to me like another attempt by muzby to see more BLers naked (but in an ARTY way).

Either that, or he likes photos.

Either way, some great shots people.

Anna, I'm hungry now and its your fault (or I've got the munchies). Cook me some shellfish and bring them over.

hopefully will be starting a 8 week basic black & white photography course in feburary. it's an area that i'm very interested in and i particularly like getting into the darkroom and developing my own prints. there's just something special about that whole process which is why i think it is important to become familar with it if you're at all thinking of getting into that area seriously, which i kinda am. :)

p.s. will post some pics up soon when i get my new computer back from the shop.

Well i want to be a fashion/music photographer when i grow up.
So i love taking photos.

A lot of my stuff is very much audience based.
Where the viewer is forced to think of my photo not so much as a photo, but as a piece of a story...

awesome.jpg

This is a photo of mine.

I love the cropping because it forces you to think and create a wrold and identity of this person. Whenever i look at it, the character i imagine is so clear about who this person should be, what their hair is like, their eyemake up, the fact they curl their eyelashes. But the best bit about this shot, it's a self portrait, but the person i create isn't me.

i might scan some other photos later.

And yeah, before investing in a photoshop course, i'd do a basic black and white photography course. You learn so much more about technique and how a camera works which is so important.

^^^Actually, you're really good at that bloss...your photos of people always have a lot of character and personality to them; I find that really difficult to do...even if I can see something right in front of me which makes that person a good subject, I find it difficult to make that come out in the photo.

I much prefer taking photos of trees, buildings and street art around the city...maybe because I don't have to make them work with me? Oh yeah, and taking something out of context so it makes a cool visual without necessarily showing what it actually is..
