I take ativan 1mg for anxiety but the effect is small. I am still anxious in situations where I'm usually anxious.
What else could I try? Is xanax stronger?

I also know 2mg ativan injections. I get them when I have to do a MRI and this stuff doesn't make me tired at all.
Cause they say it makes you tired but it does not. But it helps with the fear.

Aside from a few obscure drugs like librium pretty much all benzos are stronger than ativan.
You're pretty much taking like the smallest dose of the weakest stuff.
Maybe try upping to 3mg? Or like you mentioned, xanax. Doesn't last forever like some of the other ones.

for my anxiety i personally like xanax and valium
for a panic attacks xanax hits hard but doesnt really last long they are perfect for "in case of emergency" situations sometimes i feel it lingering after a few hrs
if i have to be out all day a small dose of valium works better
i tried ativan also but it didnt do much and gave me horrible memory loss might be just me but i quit it after like 10 doses

Have you ever tried Valium? I've never tried Ativan but a lot of people are saying Xanax is stronger and IME Valium blows Xanax out of the water in every way. Temazepam is also very good.

All these Benzo's are stronger than Lorazepam (Ativan)...

-Alprazolam (Xanax)
-Clonazepam (Klonopin)
-Brotizolam (Dormex)
-Flunitrazepam (Rohypnol)
-Triazolam (Triazolam)

This list is MG for MG, I'm sure there are more benzo's stronger than Ativan than what I listed....but that's what came to my mind comparing them by mg's.

Ya, thats what I was gonna say, any benzo... I never could tell I had taken them, even after I took 12 at once one time(and they were real, i looked them up.)

When I say any benzo, I mean diazepam too.

10mg is much stronger than 1mg of ativan (equivalent).

Hello,
I'd want a benzo which doesn't last that long. Does valium last long?
Isn't valium rather for sleep?
I dont want a benzo which makes me sleepy.

I asked my doc about xanax already but he didnt really want to switch.
I have to ask again.

I also worry about the whole benzo dementia stuff.
Now I cant even take a benzo without feeling guilty. :(

I must be an oddball, benzo's don't make me sleepy outta the ones I've tried(xanax, etizolam, klonopin, ativan, valium, temazepam but I snorted it cuz I was young dumb and like 19) Xanax and etizolam gives me energy for sure, klonopin is neutral, it can make me sleepy if a huge dose is taken, ativain I can't tell I took...valium does make me slightly sleepy though...sometimes I wish I was one of those people that are like " I took a xanax or a valium and was out for 12 hours!" But in some odd way they give me rexlaxed energy. Since I don't have a script I notice when I'm without I'm so tired because it seems so exhausiting having to socialize with people, like my mind is always going. Phenibut makes me sleepy, espcially later on in the day, know it's not a benzo. I actually fell asleep sitting up after work watching a porn for an hour and a half. I was tired, just kinda shut my eyes, next thing I know it 2 hours later, porn still going, lol.

Xanax 1mg is much stronger IMO, but you WILL need to redose to maintain the same effect duration, so keep than in mind.

Valium/Diazepam is probably the strongest and longest lasting of the benzo group, but like all benzo's, after 3-4 weeks of use its effects wear off and addiction quickly follows, where you have to take them to avoid withdrawal. Some of the newer SSRI anti-depressants can be very helpful with anxiety, so too can beta-blockers, used for blood pressure control but a side effect is its suppression of adrenaline being released by the adrenal glands, speak to your doctor. Good luck. Try to use benzo's with caution due to their addictive properties, but I'm sure you already know that.

Flubromazepam n phenazepam are hard hitters for anxiety, loooong lasting relief too , but take too much and your asleep for sure.

Some people find lorazepam weak, but for me it's very powerfully anxiolytic, second only to alprazolam. Try 2-3mg. If it still doesn't kill the anxiety for you, try alprazolam or clonazepam. Some people find diazepam very anxiolytic but for me it's sedative at equianxiolytic doses.

I have xanax at home but never tried it yet. The problem is if I take it being at home then I cant really tell how well it works in situations where I have strong fear. :/

If 2mg ativan worked as well for me as 1 mg xanax then should I still prefer xanax cause the dose is lower or does this not matter?
Is a low dose healthier and less addictive?
