Opioids What's the legal status of growing papaver somniferum in the US?

Like for a private garden/greenhouse? I'd love to grow it for myself if I ever own my own property.

It's legal until you decide to use it for anything other than something to look at it. Then it becomes illegal. If police find pods on your property you probably will be charged. I've seen episodes of Cops where the property owners were charged just because seed pods were in their garden. Take note that poppy straw, no matter where or how it's found, is a CII controlled substance. First thing, don't tell anyone, and especially don't tell the world on a forum such as BL.
