Film What's the Last Film You Saw? v. Tell Us What You Thought!

Der Todesking (1990) - 2.5 decaying corpses - The only reason I was really disappointed with this film is that I see it as #1 and #2 on people's "Most Disturbing Movies" lists on IMDb as well as elsewhere online. And from what people had to say I thought it was gonna be very hardcore, but...it really isn't. Der Todesking is several different "episodes" within a movie of people committing suicide (or occasionally murder) with each segment being about 10 minutes long and named after a day of the week. Dispersed between these segments we are shown footage of an increasingly decomposing corpse, filmed in a typical time-lapse way, such as when people film a flower blooming or food rotting. It's not disturbing, but features a cool, realistic looking scene of a penis being cut off (If you have the UK edition of this movie it says "Uncut" - the movie, not the penis lol - but the director cut that scene out before realising it to the BBFC so that bit is missing from the UK VHS and DVD editions).
On the plus side, I didn't get bored at all and I'm glad I watched it.

TQ:

"In six days God created the heavens and the earth. On the seventh day he killed himself"

Little Girl [showing us what she just drew]: Der Todesking. He is the death king and he makes people want to kill themselves.

Intruder (1989) - 3.5 stars - decent little slasher. I liked the somewhat originality of all of the events taking place over one night in a large grocery store with the night crew being unaware they have been locked in and that there if (obviously) somebody in there killing them off one-by-one. I think it speaks well for the movie that the first kill isn't until 34 minutes in and it DIDN'T feel slow, especially considering it was completely off-screen and with zero blood to be seen. The cast of characters were actually somewhat interesting and likable.
It's a very formulaic slasher, complete with a Final Girl ending. You know the deal, if you enjoy 80s slasher movies you could do a lot worse

Shortbus (2006) - 4.5 stars - Really enjoyable movie. A caution: Shortbus has numerous scenes of graphic unsimulated sex, including straight, gay and bisexual sex along with a couple of orgy scenes. Oral sex and masturbation (with cum shots) are the equivalent that you'd see in softcore porn (basically everything but vaginal or anal penetration).
An unusual movie about several different New York residents who's paths all come together at a niche sort of club of the titular name.
You're best going into it not knowing more than that, really.
Shortbus encompasses several different genre's, most notably erotica, comedy, drama and feel-good. I'd definitely recommend this.

My Top Quote isn't actually a quote here, but a scene where a guy sings "That Star-Spangled Banner" directly INTO another guys asshole.

Actually a pretty decent horror I watched last night. One of those if you miss a few mins you’re screwed with the story type films.

Thanks for the review, I'm always looking for new horror flicks to watch. I hate to say this but a lot of movies these days are so dull and lifeless that they hardly manage to captivate the viewer's attention. Perhaps ... it's best I speak for myself by saying that "movies ain't what they used to be." Miss a few mins here and there, you're good you can still follow along and not miss out on anything. Anyways my cynicism aside, what platform can this be found on? Netflix? Hulu? Thanks in advance

Watched Face/Off with a buddy last night, what a great 90s throwback. On Sunday revisited Interview with a Vampire. LeStat: "I believe I need no introduction" hehe

Watched half of Bill and Ted Face the Music. Have to finish the beginning but I think it was classic.

Just watched Uncut Gems (Adam Sandler, Kevin Garnett, Julia Fox) and I was not impressed. It just didn't do it for me. Personally I thought it was boring a waste of my time!

GRAVITY , after the near miss of two large pieces of space Junk this week, I wanted to check it out?
Excellent film and very very scary visual explanation of the Kessler syndrome.
