my mom gave me a bottle of midrin that she had got from the doc a while back for migraines. she only used them once and it didn't work. i took two and 45 minutes later i was passing in and out of a crazy daze on my bed. i had my tv on with eyes closed and my imagination was running wild along to the audio the tv was giving off. i felt amazing. it wasn't crazy euphoric like opiates but it was very nice. needless to say a couple days later the bottle was gone. i'm in a different country now and it's not available by prescription here and i read it's been discontinued in the states. are there any other drugs similar to midrin that i might be able to get a hold of?

Dichloralphenazone is a 1:2 mixture of antipyrine (an analgesic) with chloral hydrate. Amidrine also contains an adrenergic stimulant related to DMAA.
That's why. Chloral is the active shit in it. Related drugs are things like chloroform, ether, alcohol.
They are all pretty tough on your liver and kidneys though.

Chloral hydrate is a chlorinated "cousin" of ethyl alcohol (drinking alcohol) that is rather more potent as an intoxicant. Chloral hyrate was once used as a sedative but as you noticed, it's addicting and euphoric and gets you humongously plastered. Regular usage causes phosgene, a WW1 war gas, to be produced in your liver. (and trichloroacetic acid, an insecticide/pesticide) Not good!

This family of drugs was probably replaced by the barbiturates (Tuinal, Seconal, etc. which have all been discontinued - save for phenobarbital, which is like getting hit with a sack of bricks) and then later the benzodiazepines (Xanax/Ativan/Valium/Klonopin) and Z-drugs (Lunesta etc)

The closest alternative is
