I'm wanting to get clean and detox from meth. My usage has cutback quite alot, and i'm just ready to stop. So I guess what i'm looking for is any information on helping the detox process. Is there any vitamins/supplements i should be taking to help my body recover? Foods to help? and basically any tips/suggestions to help. I want to get away from where I am to do it, go stay somewhere, where I wont have any access to it, or any surroundings that would make me want to go pick up. I'm going to talk with my parents, see if we can get a room somewhere or something that's a good drive time away from my usual. Gotta get a list going on what I can take with me to make it "easier" or help fast track getting my body healthy again.

so anything anyone can suggest is much appreciated TIA!!

Your best bet is to go to a detox or residential treatment program. If you have medical insurance most likely the whole bill will be covered. The hardest part is the mental aspect, and as soon as you return to the same place and are around the same people you will most likely start using again. I know this from experience. Good luck, feel free to message me if you need help finding a place to go to.

I completely agree with the above. i have gone away to get clean and used the second i got back more times than i can count. i didn't realise that there is a lot of psychological work necessary to get into recovery. you need to get to the bottom of what meth is doing for you, and find a way to address that need in a healthy way. i would ideally find a rehab, seek out your local drugs services, get a therapist if you can, and find mutual support meetings like NA or SMART.

I would just focus on eating a variety of whole foods, ideally cooked from scratch. probably also take a supplement. when i was in rehab i was given a fuckton of vitamin b complex cos crack is awful for your nerves, i suspect meth may be the same. try to do some exercise as well.

you have done really well to cut back and take the decision to stop, that is a large part of the battle.

Well there is no magic pill. I wish there was.

Keep your body hydrated.
Eat good, like fruits and veggies and high protein meat. Skip the fast food and fried stuff.
Take a multi vitamin.
Take D3 to help rebuild calcium because meth takes it all away.
Calcium, Magnesium & Zinc. Even though they are already included in your multi (but only at 25%-30% of daily recommended value for Calcium and Magnesium), the way meth uses these minerals up, you really need more.
Nootropics. smart drugs, also called cognitive enhancers are drugs, supplements, or other substances that improve cognitive function, particularly executive functions, memory, creativity, or motivation. It will help lift the fog.
Sleep and sleep, and more sleep.

And the best advice I can give you is be ready for it to suck, mentally. You aren't gonna want to do nothing but sleep for a few days and everything is just gonna plain suck. But if you can get through four or five days, then you should be good. One or two weeks, your golden. It's like a honeymoon. You will feel much much better. Emotions you forgot you had will surface again. That's a really nice time frame on the timeline.
When you hit day 45-60, you hit "the wall". Things kinda suck a little and the honeymoon phase is over. It's easy to relapse, just because. But if you make it to 100 days, dont look back!

Dont be nervous, its doable. You just have to be strong mentally. Tell your friends your getting clean and tell them not to tempt you. Delete your dealer's number.

Most people trying to quit meth have a number of relapses on the journey. I don’t think many people go cold turkey one day and never touch it again.

Don’t beat yourself up if you relapse and don’t be too worried about counting days clean. If you keep increasing the days between relapses you’ll be making progress.

The first time I quit i could only go a few days, then I worked that up to a month, then 2 months and eventually pushed to six months then 4 years.

You pretty much have to cut off everybody who uses. Move from away so you can never score it easy helps but not practical for most people. Rebuilding your body and mind takes time eat healthy join the gym going for long walks and runs. The cravings still pop up after a long time. For some people 12 step programs work well for them but others not so much. Seeking help and a support group who has a good mentor can help alot. Small things can set you off wanting to use again it can be hard and is where alot of people replase when they hit a hard moment in life and seek that escape.

things do get better and the longer you are sober the better life becomes. It takes time but it pays off and you come out stronger. Channel your energy into creativity do something that you really wanted to do as a child. Draw things if you have no artistic ability been able to express your emotions in a natural way can help instead of drowning yourself in drugs. I been clean from stimulants for two years and after a year i feel alive again but i still get cravings but been able to express joy and love without drugs. During hardcore stimulant addiction i lost my soul but i gained it back healing takes time you can do this.

Rehab is definitely recommended, if it's an option... or you could stay with family/friends and do a rehab-type situation with them.

Don't be afraid. Meth withdrawals aren't that bad. When I quit, I though it was going to be harder than it was. I recommend exercising as much as possible. Exhaust yourself and sleep through it. Like others have said, most people don't make a clean break at first. I quit meth many times before it stuck. Don't beat yourself up if you make a mistake. Nobody is perfect.

The withdrawal process isn't nearly as bad as benzos or opiates. Don't build it up in your head as an unmanageable nightmare. A lot of addicts do that and then they're afraid to go through it. The worst of it will be over in three or four days and you'll be relatively back to normal in a couple of weeks. When I quit thienodiazepines cold turkey recently, I didn't sleep for six days. Was worse than quitting methadone. I'm not trying to suggest what you've got to do isn't hard. Just trying to put it in perspective, so you aren't afraid. At least you can sleep when you're withdrawing from amphetamines. It could be a lot worse.

Don't worry. You can do this.

The biggest step when quitting something is deciding in your heart that you want to quit. It sounds like you've done that, so a big part of the journey is already complete.

Good luck. <3

I would be more than happy to give you a three day playbook on detox without the drugs. I work for a recovery and rehabilitation company, and am "in the middle" of detox.

Solid advice and support right there.

Meth detox is all about displacement. Then supporting what has been displaced, of which you actually need to remain healthy and not have your body go into turmoil. Which, by the way, is the work of that gray matter.

Q

I have recovered from meth addiction a few times. Actually getting off the stuff was not that difficult after making the first week.

However, every time I relapsed it was because some connect from my using life contacted me. You really need a new life/identity safe from triggers from when you used.

Holy shit I don't think it could be explained any better than this right here.....nice ;)

sounds lots like what was happening to me when i quit. the several times i tried. people always texting me or running into them somewhere out in public. or waking up with a seriously taunting meth dream and not being able to shake that urge. one of my biggest pieces of advice is delete social media and change your phone number and delete all the contacts you have for drugs. and try not to memorize them before you delete em. hahaha

What I did when I was quitting meth was that I kept in mind the negative effects its use had on my life. That made it easier to walk away. I just kept thinking about my life before meth and how much better it was. Made it a goal to try and return to that state of being. Pushed myself to get back into the things I enjoyed in life before meth took that away from me.
Easier said than done, I guess, but alas the only insight into the whole deal that I can offer.

I find this all to be very encouraging. When I first got into CM I lost myself for about a year, then I quit for six months and picked back up and used for another 2 years. I quit regular use and stayed like that for a while. I used Nov. 15 and I have not gone 24hrs without up to this point.

Changing the people, places and things you did while high are vital to sobriety.
As well, the brain is able to heal and neurogenesis is a life-time process.

What has always brought me back has not necessarily been the drug itself, it has been the change of mindset that comes with it. My addiction began with CM, but I intermingled it with a pre-existing addiction to porn and sex. The result for me has been a fusing of neuropathways that has caused me to be celibate in sobriety and a sexual deviant when I am high.

What keeps me away is knowing that I am not the deviant, what brings me back is craving being who I once was. Meth allows me to walk in the shoes of a man I laid to rest years ago at the expense of the man I am today.

At some point you realize that you are living a lie and you make a decision to change.

For many people, myself included, separating their sex life from meth use is very difficult. I got to the point where any kind of erotic thought was an immediate trigger to get high. I had no interest in healthy romantic relationships only the combination of being totally twacked and totally deviant (compared to pre-meth use).

I feel that accepting a period of celibacy is necessary for my recovery from meth use.

Absolutely. It is the same for me. I have tried time and time again to incorporate any kind of sexual expression into my sober life and it has always led me back to the clouds. It’s like window shopping. If you continue to look, eventually you will go into the store and buy.

Get a heroin habit. That will fuck your libido...
