Just did a search on one of the larger online shops and looks like it's been removed entirely. Anyone know anything about this?

Yeah, the FDA determined it wasn't natural so banned it for use as a dietary supplement. You can probably still buy it from overseas websites, but you run the risk it'll get seized.

They determined this after they approved it 2 decades ago? Our gov in action.
 
I don't think you're missing anything. I tried it years ago as a nootropic/dream-enhancer and all it did was give me anxiety, nausea and headaches.
