Everytime plants start having their pollen orgies I start having panic attacks because my nose just shuts down, I've had this problem since I was a kid and I just don't know what to do anymore.

It makes all my muscles ache and all the bad shit starts raining down on me, I can usually just ignore it and get back on track with a little deep breathing but lately Ive had a lot going on and just can't take having to deal with it everytime I wake up.

I just need some kinda anasthetic or just any kind of way to get rid of it/prevent it.

Ive asked doctors for help and Tried all kinds of nasal sprays but it only makes it way way worse.

€ Is there anyway it could be linked to sciatica/backproblems?

The only thing that helps is weed, would smelling salts be effective for this sort of thing too?

Have you tried antihistamine tablets for the pollen allergies? Fexofenadine, cetirizine, loratadine, polaramine etc? I'm allergic to a lot of things so I have to take an antihistamine tablet every single day, 365 days a year, otherwise I'm in a world of discomfort.

I cannot do nasal sprays either, as I'm phobic of them. I can only do tablets for my allergies.

I was prescribed some a very long time, it did kinda help at first but then it'd just kinda stop working. I asked my doctor for some steroidal/adrenaline sprays but yknow "blah blah too many drug seekers want that so go suffocate" So if you know anything like that, that doesnt need a prescription ill try it out. I know it works because speed and acid help me out big time and they stimulate the central nervous system, they automate my breathing but I cant take them everyday. ~This problem wasnt caused by drugs btw.

I feel your pain dude, they needa find a way to cure this shit. Dumbass scientists

Maybe try the antihistamine tablets again, if you haven't had them for many years. If they helped back then, they will work again. I always have to change which one I'm using because I build a tolerance to them over time. For example at the moment I'm using fexofenadine, but in a few weeks I will switch to cetirizine as the fexo will stop working. It's worth a try?

Also, is it only one doctor who said no to the steroidal nasal spray? It's reasonably common for doctors to prescribe steroids for bad cases here in Australia (as far as I am aware). What country are you in?

UK, although many europeans like to brag about this free healthcare, I can assure it's kinda subpar unless you live in a rich neighbourhood, I heard stories of people barging into hospitals just to get a scan, and even I myself got denied help (because of a drug charge) for a somewhat breathing related nerve damage that I had to pay a specialist 2k to fix.

One of my main concerns with antihestemites is that they make you drowsy, which kinda affects that nerve thing. If theres any slow release brands/types they might just work but idk

Have you ever tried smelling salts? I heard athletes use them to kickstart themselves

I personally haven't tried smelling salts but I know about them. I don't think they are very commonly used any more.

Some antihistamines are non-drowsy, but you have to ask the pharmacist when you buy them. They should also say on the packaging whether or not they make you drowsy. Personally, fexofenadine does not make me drowsy, but polaramine definitely does!!

Something else that helps me with my breathing when I get allergies is a Ventolin inhaler, but you would have to get a prescription from a doctor for that.

I'll try fexofenadine, see if that helps. Thanks for the info on the non-drowsy stuff, I had a hard time finding them in pharmacies before.

As has been suggested you need to get some antihistamines. There are plenty of non drowsy ones and if it stops working ask to try a different one.

I will but the problem is not only related to allergies. I have nerve damage that gets affected by some of that medicine and it makes my arm turn purple so yknow no need to highlight whats already been suggested.

I was highlighting the fact that if one doesn’t work to try another as that hasn’t been said. Sometimes your body responds to a different antihistamine better.

If you’ve nerve damage then asking your dr to prescribe it would be the best thing as they will know your medical history.

Yeah, I guess it hasn't. Although I might look for a specialist instead.

Lux, are you on any meds for your nerve damage/nerve pain?

No, I was on Codeine for a shortwhile but all it did was make me not feel pain so it made it way worse the next day. What I do is I smoke weed which seems to ease the pain, that or alcohol/meditation.

Perhaps talk to your doctor about getting prescribed a medication that is specific for nerve pain e.g. gabapentin or pregabalin. They also have the added bonus that they seem to reduce anxiety, which could help with your panic attacks when you're having trouble breathing.

Have you considered counselling or perhaps even biofeedback for the panic attacks? Not trying to diagnose you here, but panic attacks in response to body sensations are classic symptoms of panic disorder, which is quite well understood and very treatable with CBT to help you understand and control your response to your body sensations. Biofeedback is another excellent tool for learning to manage it. Perhaps your physician would be able to refer you if you suggest it to them?

I used to go to a neurologist before we all got locked down and he advised against that kinda stuff as it can kinda stun your muscle memory, which I kinda need damaged or not, but I'm trying to find another one right now so all's well, its only an issue when the weather flactuates, itll iron itself out when summer hits. (Cold weather affects sciatica)

Oh yh I've done intensive breathing therapy for like 3 months, I just don't have time to meditate sometimes as it makes me lose track of what I was doing so I want something to restart my fuel intake capacitor in a jiffy when need be so I can keep on keeping on

Great advice for someone who's just starting to deal with nerve damage btw cus anxiety really does make it worse. (If my nerve damaged distant cousins are reading this rn, take this advice)
