Life doesn't begin at conception I'm sorry guys. Notice we celebrate"birth"days and not fucking "conception"days lmao

So life begins at birth then?

it doesn't make abortions unilaterally bad

Never said they were unilaterally bad.

Ok so it's been said now a couple times that "no one wants to criminalize" it, we're just having a discussion, etc. Then what exactly is the point of this discussion other than to be like "abortion = bad"?

What's the "point" of any discussion, political or otherwise?

There's been a lot of back and forth about Trump. At the end of the day, none of it is going to affect whether he runs in 2024 or starts a travelling circus.

If this particular discussion has no value to you, then don't participate.
Like you said about abortion, it's as simple as that.

by 9 weeks that fetus can feel pain and in my eyes is a human with full rights of any human being. I did not say abortion should be illegal. Infact i support it been legal with proper precautions taking with so many doctors have to been seen to agree to it.

If said kid is going to be born with life destorying disabilities then i agree with abortion to spare the child some mercy of the life ahead of them. Though i reckon we should be gentically engineering human embryos to avoid such things.

How hard is for fucking people to wear a condom take a birth controll pill or get that long term one which is implanted in your arm if your are irresponsible and don't have the means to raise a child.

Something occurs to regarding the "I can't support a child" argument.

Do babies born in China and Afghanistan receive adequate support?
Or should they all be aborted?

Are we saying if a child is unlikely to have a high quality of life (according to Western standards) then it is somehow better off dead?

Are there many people in the US that would rather have been aborted?

lol babies in china have it better than everybody in the world these days. 100 million chinese are the 10% richest people in the world china has over 400 million more people in the middle class. Most children born in other places have it okay to a degree and are fed and clothed. Real poverty is in africa where they can't even cry they are so dehydrated and poor all they would be happy for is a drink of water.

First, I'll tell the story about my partner and I who had an abortion. It was messed up, just imagine doing it in a hotel with the pill, and leaving to go score some heroin or at least ibuprofen to help her with the immense pain she was experiencing, coming back, and it was done and she had wrote "I AM HAPPY" on the wall of the hotel in miscarriage blood. *shivers* she wrote that because her family had been having children young (extremely young in her grandmother and mothers case) for generations, and was full of addiction and poverty. We were also homeless, and addicted to drugs, and we wanted to break the cycle. Seeing that did traumatize me though, and I can't even imagine how she felt.

Do I wish I had a kid today? Yes for the most part, but am I happy I didn't have one in that toxic relationship and a child was not brought into an abusive addictive home? Yes

I am of the persuasion that at a certain point, if the mother is not willing, the soul of the child does not die, but finds another host.

At what point does it become a child? Our abortion it was only a barely developing zygote? Is it a child when its just a twinkle in her eye? There is too much debate here to have a law.

Another time, a friend of mine was raped while we were traveling in Central America. She had missed 2 periods. The country we were in abortion was totally illegal (they even tried to forced a 13 year old incest victim in a famous case, and her entire family had to leave the country permanently). We didn't have the funds to return to the US in an emergency (we were living and paying rent there). We contacted a group called womenonweb who will ship abortion pills to countries where its illegal. We wound up following some instructions utilizing what we already had available (due to long shipping times) and performing a ghetto abortion. Fortunately, it worked out rather painless, and no one died.

Anyway, no one LIKES abortion, even prolife people. But we have way too many people already, and far too often children are born into broken homes due to religious beliefs. You can't tell me that a week into a pregnancy that's a fully formed child. Its certainly not conscious. Personally, id say its more cruel to kill a mouse who is conscious of itself and its life, so as to be able to miss it. This doesn't speak to the trauma a mother experiences, but it shows how someone with no religious upbringing such as myself might feel, as opposed to a conservative nut.

Why is it right wing folks want the right to tell a woman what to do with her body, but don't give a fuck what the "baby" she's carrying will experience after birth, with no health insurance, homeless, or living in poverty?

But you said the left wants the "right to kill babies", in more applicable terms to countries that already have some semblance of women's rights, its more like "the left doesn't want the right to take away women's bodily autonomy to fit their narrow minded and religious conservative worldview"

Or is this what you meant when you said the right wants free speech. By all means, you have the right to guilt trip traumatized people.

Life begins at conception. It would wise to teach women to say, "don't cum in me" before the man enters. And then teach guys to pull out while wearing a condom. If it's fucks for keeps then a conversation should be had in order for both parties to attain the desirable.

I did cum in a girl that later told me a doctor induced a period because she was late. It was probably an abortion. Honestly is the best policy.

I'm sorry you've been through some truly horrible shit, @Zephyn.

If you read what I wrote in this thread, I believe in the rape/incest exemption. Also (like @TripSitterNZ) I don't think abortion should be illegal. I just think it should be regulated. The situation you described with painting I AM HAPPY on the wall in miscarriage blood, that would qualify. Killing your baby sheerly out of convenience would not qualify. People should - at the very least - need to seek the approval of multiple medical professionals. There is no sensible argument against this.

There is a process for euthanasia. There is a process for trans surgery. There should be a process for abortion. I'm not saying it shouldn't be accessible at all. I never said that.

No I can't. I said life begins at conception. I didn't say babies exist at conception. It would be pretty painful (and weird) if guys shot babies out of their dicks. I don't think anybody would ever fuck if this was the case. I'd certainly tone down the pornography I jerk off to, just in case the first thing my children see when they come into this world is an inter-racial BDSM gangbang.

Abortions aren't performed at conception.

Or is this what you meant when you said the right wants free speech. By all means, you have the right to guilt trip traumatized people.

Free speech is fundamental. People (in my opinion) have the right to say all sorts of offensive shit. The question of whether or not saying certain things is ethical is not the same question as to whether or not they it should be legal to do so. It is not the government's right to dictate speech, unless the speech is directly inciting violence.

I am of the persuasion that at a certain point, if the mother is not willing, the soul of the child does not die, but finds another host.

That's convenient.

Why is it right wing folks want the right to tell a woman what to do with her body, but don't give a fuck what the "baby" she's carrying will experience after birth, with no health insurance, homeless, or living in poverty?

The most anti-abortion person on this thread (@JessFR) is pretty far left wing. But nobody - including her - is telling anyone what to do with their body.

As for health insurance, homelessness and poverty: there are many wealthy caring people that would be thrilled to adopt the child. So, I don't consider that to be a particularly valid argument. It only makes sense if the mother refuses to give the child up. This is selfish. They either want to kill it because they can not (read: will not) care for it... or they want to insist upon it having a terrible life rather than someone else caring for it?

The vast majority of people who are impoverished in the Western world can take steps to better themselves. It's hard - trust me, I know - but it's possible. Countless people throughout history have made extraordinary sacrifices for their children and accomplished great things motivated by the need to feed, house and otherwise sustain their offspring. If (for some reason) the parents are totally incapable of doing this, adoption is an option.

If there was more of a thorough process that people had to go through to get an abortion, perhaps more women would decide to put their children up for adoption... or go to rehab... or receive support payments, etc.

Even with adoption you still have to actually have the kid.

Tbh the idea of having a kid scares the shit out of me a little.

I think the ideal would be reducing the number of unwanted pregnancies directly. Provide better sex education to more people, subsidize contraception, make it free even and more early accessable. Duct tape the catholics mouths shut. Life sentence for rapists. Etc etc.

No it won't eliminate the problem of abortions but the fewer the better.

No one wants to have an abortion anyway, everyone would rather they not be needed. Everyone wins if we prevent unwanted pregnancy to start with.

It's beyond frustrating that I keep thinking how the catholics are one of the biggest obstructions to reducing the need for abortion, something they're supposedly against yet offer no good solutions too beyond "just deal with it and repent to christ ya whore!" :p.

@JessFR

Giving birth scares the shit out of me. I don't understand why anyone opts for a vaginal birth. If I was a woman and I was pregnant I would schedule a C-section without a second thought. The whole birth thing is a fucking nightmare. Drug me. Cut it out of me. Wake me when it's over.

Catholics get too much credit for the contraception thing. They are just a scapegoat. The majority of unwanted pregnancies don't occur because of an archaic church.

Problem is I'm scared of having a general anesthetic too, perhaps even more so than the idea of giving birth.

Its a ptsd thing, the idea of not being in control like that and completely dependant on other people, it sets my anxiety off.

child birth is the most painful thing a human can undergo. But the chemicals and the natural process + the mothers resolve and bond forming during such a intense experince puts childbirth on the same spirituality as a near death experince. To give birth to another life is something we men could never begin to understand. The certain biological thing that happens within them to get past all that pain and then repeat it all to have more kids shows that women are brave and powerful than a man could ever be. They can't even handle getting kicked in the nuts let alone having your literally insides tear and widen for a child.

^I can't speak for the rest of you pussies, but I don't think women can tolerate pain better than I can. I have trigeminal neuralgia. Look it up. One of the most painful conditions in the world (more so than childbirth according to people who've experienced both). Haven't had a pain killer for five months. I could pop a baby out sideways. The pain isn't the bit that bothers me.

It's not? It's the part that bothers me, plus the whole process just sounds unpleasant. Honestly the idea of a c section doesn't make it sound much better. :p

There better be some damn good endorphins involved, there must be right otherwise nobody would have kid after kid. ;P

Anyway I'm probably not a good example of supposed female pain tolerance, I've spent years and years desensitizing my opioid receptors with heroin and methadone.

If you get a c-section, your vagina doesn't get destroyed. Pain is temporary. You can stitch up fourth degree perineal tears to some extent, but they never get fixed properly... and that's just one thing that happens. I like sex too much. If I have a choice of splitting my vagina right down to my asshole or having a little scar on my abdomen, I'm not going to think twice about it.

That's hardly a guarantee to happen in vaginal delivery.

I dunno, I think I'd rather just make the guy deliver the baby. In this post gender world that strikes me as a perfectly fair request. Why should I have to deliver it? That's sexist. :p
