Honestly its get so bad people have had to resort to to having their own poppy farms for home bake morphine and opium to deal with chronic pain.

Street opiate prices for pharma pills is way to expensive but some people its their only relief from whatever physical or emotional pain they face. Unless you find a corrupt doctor who is willing to write you bullshit scripts they do exist out there but very rare to find one but i do know people who get monthly scripts of tramadol with no need for it.
Hey u in WA too?

Are they?
Off topic but regarding prices, the very cheapest pack of 20 cigs is $25.
Dunno if you smoke but if you do, are they are as expensive in NZ?

I use to smoke but i quit due to the price rises a 20 pack of cigs is now like $35 but you can easily get untaxed Chinese ones from smugglers for alot cheaper in cities.

The rules haven’t changed for current chronic pain patients on long term opioid treatment! The new rules are reduced pack sizes for acute treatment And discharge from hospital. If a long term patient you are supposed to see another Dr every year for a second opinion. Doesn’t have to be a pain specialist. I get my review by another doc in the same practice. Ok it helps that mine is the practice ceo but still it can be another GP. Actually I found out I gained on the pack size rule changes. It’s this bloody confusion that’s killed 2 pain group members of mine in the past 6 months and has the asshat Drs using it as an excuse to drop patients which is illegal.

The same unfortunate situation we have here in Europe, at least in many countries. Switzerland for example banned codeine, even dextromethorphan(!) from OTC after many years of pharmacies refusing or complicating the sale of it as if capitalism wouldn't apply to them ... at the same time in CH it's pretty easy to get into opioid maintenance but other countries are very hard and straight out deny the prescription of anything stronger than ibuprofen even to some terminally ill individuals. Thought we were over such stupid ideals but obviously we aren't by a long run which is sad.

In Germany for example anybody ever labeled as an 'abuser' usually won't get even benzodiazepines or ADHD meds even if statistics say they prevent abuse of other substances in many cases. I would have had to show 12 months of clear urine samples. The same country kicks opioid maintenance folks out of the door if they show positive for anything else and has some fucked up mad strategies for addiction counseling and so-called detoxification which even today scares me off going to random doctors or seeking medical help and I know it does so for many other drug users.

Just pray that I'll never have an accident or otherwise require real pain medicine..

Things are going mad here, IMO.
Firstly, all OTC codeine was banned.
Now, all prescription pain meds have been restricted to use by people with terminal illnesses and people suffering acute transient pain, such as post-surgical.
Recently my brother had very painful surgery. The surgeon had written him up for OxyContin for post-surgical pain.
But the PollyAnna doctor on duty, who looked about 17, crossed out her senior colleague's treatment plan and informed my brother that for pain relief he was to be sent home with ... Vitamin C.

So he had to go to his GP in order to get appropriate pain relief. She prescribed 30 mg codeine tabs - fair enough - but when I got this script filled I was told that recently the government has decreed that Panadeine Forte is no longer covered by Medicare and that the "private" pricing has been increased.

They used to cost $6.80.
Now they cost about $45.

This is ideology. Also it's cruel. Also it's stupid and ignorant

Vitamin C for post-surgical pain?

Anyone had a similar experience either in Australia or elsewhere?
This is eerily similar to US, its almost as if Pain Meds was left up to WHO to decide the worlds requirements to take pain meds, but vitamin c?? thats an insult rest assured, in my younger days... those doctors woulda had a rough rest of the night had I of not gotten my pills, but alot has changed since then.

And with that follows, Overdoses as many people have no idea what they are doing when it comes to homemade morphine or poppy seed tea..

An addictive person I may be but certainly my pain issue is real (smashed knee) and my inability to source anything stronger than aspirin is making me practically housebound...

A bit of codeine would take care of it ... anyone else with a pain issue in similar straits??
There's always the drug dealer but they want so much money for Oxy, and I don't even like Oxy that much - it makes me grumpy.
So I'm boozing away, putting on weight steadily too - luckily I was underweight to start with but have gained almost 15 pounds in 3 months...face is bleary from boozing...at a loss...
