Anyone else like this movie?

I can't wrap my mind around the mom and son actually fucking when he was 17. 8(

They're calling it "assault" but I think it was probably consensual.

Yes, I loved the movie. And the book it's based on. I have yet to read the sequel "Sarah".
Where does it say they had sex when he was 17?? I know he became a teenage transgender prostitute.

tbph there's worse women to forcibly give you a bj than asia but

#metoo can be men too i guess since it was a gay man who started the #metoo movement lol and women were kind of like YOINK MINE! hahahaha. They had more to complain about it anyways, good for them.

I JUST REWATCHED THIS FILM. AND. HOLY. FUCK. ING. SHIT. It's one breath-taking facepalming terrible (not quality but content) scene after the other where morality is perfectly polarized, black and white and it is all immoral no one is moral and there is no God as far as I could tell was intended to be imparted on the viewer and btw the scene w/ Marilyn Manson is hard to understand unless you read the plot of the novel the movie was based on, and you're like, OHHHH this makes sense. And the concepts he writes about are intriguing if not hard to watch.

It also gave Jeremiah's indifference to the religious smartass who told Jeremiah a truth and lied to the old ass religious bastard about it more meaning/understanding and is less confusing when taken into this context.

It's a very good film and quite honestly I think they all did a great job with it despite the content being extremely hard to portray in a realistic way, and honestly I think it's believable enough. Asia starts to look like a drugged/sexed out Courtney Love at times.

And the scene w/ her and Marilyn Manson with the dress is exactly what he is parodying in (s)aint toward the end, except Asia has a more masculine form at this point in time (and he combines the Marla Thomas type smoking of hers in with the fantasy).

A lot of this went over my head at the time (and TGAoG was likely not released when I first watched this, or had just come out and the music vids I had not peeked).

I haven't seen that movie, but fuck Asia Argento. She was on her soapbox speaking out all the time about "Me Too" and she turns out to be a pedophile. Anthony Bourdain would have died of embarrassment when that news came out if he hadn't already killed himself.
She used to be hot, but she fuglied herself up with a ton of tacky ass tattoos.

I just read that you said the theme of the film is "There is no God." That's not a surprise she's involved with that kind of film. She's just another pedophile, devil worshipper. That's the Hollywood standard.

Tbh I respect the honest opinion.
I just think the aspects are out of proportion. Bourdain was aware of the sexual encounter and encouraged her to settle.

Anthony wasn't alive when it all came out in public.
He didn't have to suffer public humiliation of his girlfriend fucking a kid.
He knew about it privately (so she claims), but the whole world didn't know about it while he was alive.

It went public after he died. She claimed Anthony told her to pay it off and settle. That made me dislike her even more when she brought his name into it. Seemed like she was passing blame somehow. The man is dead, he can't speak for himself.

I agree about their being no god (Sorry, Coast!) but I don't think there's supposed to BE a message. The book it's based on was an autobiography written by a 17-year-old transgender prostitute (this turned out to not be true, it's actually fiction by a husband-wife writing team). It could easily be true, though unfortunately trust me, I would know). It's not a movie (yet) but there's a sequel (actually, it was published first so really THiDAaT is a prequel) called Sarah for anyone interested about what happens to Jeremiah next.

The title is based on a bible verse: Jeremiah 17:9 "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who could know it?"

I lost all respect for her, too. It wasn't even consensual: he repeatedly told her no and asked her to stop. He didn't physically try and stop her but you don't when you're just a kid because you instinctively sort of don't disobey adults (authority figures) like that. I was raped around the same age and I just kinda didn't talk or move and just let me mind go away somewhere else (I remember being in the woods talking with my brother who's soul was inhabiting a tree while something evil was tearing it's way out of my bowels) and then suddenly I was alone in an alley hours later.

I wasn't there and it's one person's word against the other. The picture of them together in a hotel bed look very... consensual to me.

I remember the day that hit the news on CNN.

Did you later sleep w/ the same woman at age 17 in a hotel?

I mean it's one thing if you're abducted or persuaded (like if he were promised a job opportunity). The surrounding facts aren't highlighted on and there's a lot of missing info. If there's a "full story" I'm missing, someone may link me.

I don't think of her as an angel, just an actress IMO.

By the way if you hate her and understand the allergation, this the first movie they worked together in. IT IS AN UNBELIEVABLY intense watch. I was staring mouth agape at points. Despite me having watched it like a decade ago (VERY LITTLE WAS REMEMBERED I must have been nodding on heroin or benzos real well my first watch like 10+ years ago) and distractingly myself by turning the volume down as needed AND having other media on for half the film / as needed WITH intermissions to catch onesself... it was fucking intense.

if you hate her now the film will PROBABLY make you hate her even more. Just food for thought.

Oh I have no doubt that watching would make me loathe her more. I don't even want to hate-watch her. haha

It's super creepy to see her playing that kid's mom and in real life she was preying on him all along.

Sick bitch.

Apparently he was also #metoo'd

On July 17, 2015, Bennett's ex-girlfriend, who was 17 during the time that they dated, filed a temporary restraining order against him, accusing him of stalking, statutory rape and exploiting her for child pornography. The complaint was dismissed one month later.

THE MYSTERY CONTiNUES

Argento countered that Bennett "sexually attacked" her

Who is the jury going to believe, one man or two women? Well, right under half of America believed DJT over 27 women... :\
