A Texas mother will spend six years behind bars after she sold her son for $2,500.
Esmeralda Garza, 29, was convicted of three counts of selling or purchasing a child after she sold her 7-year-old son in order to pay off what she owed for drugs, according to the Corpus Christi Caller-Times.
Texas Department of Public Safety special agents arrested Garza in July after carrying out a drug search warrant in Corpus Christi. Officials found the 7-year-old boy, as well as her 2-year-old daughter and 3-year-old daughter, who were about to be sold.
“Garza stated that she and her boyfriend owe drug money and gave her child to (the woman) who (paid) $500 cash and clear the (owed) debt and an extra $700 when the ‘custody paperwork’ was signed,” according to the arrest affidavit.

Garza was sentenced to six years for selling the children and two years for money laundering and conspiracy to sell or purchase a child, to be served concurrently.

Holy shit what is wrong with people. Sadly the kids are going to a new home now anyway.

Life is very cheap, man, sadly. Especially in a world with seven billion people. Overpopulation is the worst threat to humankind and the earth.

that's just pathetic, selling your children. And for a few bucks worth of contraband. How low can you go.

7 billion and rising...I spoke to a friend recently who said human population is like the bacteria in a culture vial at the 11 hour mark. How long until we're at 14 billion, then at 28 billion? How many people could the world theoretically support never mind actually support? Shall we need to grow food (plant based and meat based) and wood in labs when the trees disappear? Or when farmland stops producing viable livestock/food?

It's a scary thought. There's no joke about it.

^Exsponetial growth is scary.. it will be way to late by the time its recognizable.
