I always wished that Star Trek (all of them) could've had the same caliber of special effects as the Star Wars movies. A lot of their effects were cheesy as hell, man (I'm mainly thinking of TNG here), but my imagination always found ways to work with some of the bullshit they tried to put on my TV screen.

check out the bluray re-release on tng. they've completely remastered from the original negatives and recreated the special effects completely.
