The Australian Drug Discussion is looking for a new moderator to join the current staff. The role entails frequent Bluelight funded drug binges, acess to cheap and pure sources of your three favourite substances and free ambulance cover. =D

If you have a genuine interest in harm reduction, educating and informing those less informed, dispelling myths surrounding drug use and you're willing to assist in the forward movement of the site then this position may be for you. The position isn't just about having a title under your name, rather, it's about maintaining an effective flow of accurate information in an attempt to eliminate the plethora of misinformation. Adherence, understanding and maintenance of the guidelines are a must, as is the flexibility to allow free discussion about topics that may not align with your individual values and beliefs. Regular participation is expected, encouraged and is in addition to the new ideas you will present to keep the forum fresh.

There are certain standards that must be maintained as a Moderator because you will be viewed as a representative of the forum by a variety of individuals. The forum is frequented by Law Enforcement, Academics, Parents, Teachers and as we all know too well - Journalists. This doesn't mean you can't have fun but it does mean you need to be beyond reproach or as close to it as possible. This reaches to what you post as well as how you approach and deal with situations

PM your applications to Hoptis, or myself, Lil Angel15 and address some, all or more than the criteria detailed below. Try to make an effort in your applications if you expect us to make an effort to consider you for the role.

  • Why you would like the position?
  • What you can bring to the team?
  • Future directions
  • Ideas to make the forum better

Submissions are to be made NLT 26/06/09 @ 5pm.

This thread will be left open for any questions, but please don't post nominations.

Best of Luck. :)

There are no specific criteria other than being regularly active on the site and within AusDD, upholding good HR principles and a general love for Bluelight. The criteria for what's to be included in applications is an example of the minimum preferred but individuals should feel free to add as much or as little as they please. :)

Time on site, behaviour and post count is a consideration but only so an informed decision can be made based on your history. It's certainly not the be all and end all considering this sub forum isn't as busy as some of our focus forums. If, for example, someone had 1000 posts but 70 of them had been unapproved, three warnings issued a temp bans incurred in the recent past then I would suggest they wouldn't be successful in their application. Similarly, If someone had 10 posts and had only been a member of the site for a month then they would be just as unlikely to be offered the position.

:)

You also have to be able to put up with all the free oral sex and midget porn that comes with the esteemed position of Bluelight moderator =D (ol' mod joke).

how much time do you need to put into it?

for example i'm on BL every night between 9:40:10pm and 9:48:32pm

could I fulfil my role as moderator?

I'm not sure how much you could really contribute and moderate in 8 minutes Chugs. :\

There is a substantial time commitment required to carry out the task well. Someone who visits once a week and only spends 10 minutes on site wouldn't be able to meet those requirements IMO. Whereas someone who visits most days and spends a reasonable amount of time on the site will. Obviously RL commitments will come up and take precedence over your moderating role, however, there would be a point where the burden on the remainder of your team becomes unfair if you're not pulling your weight.

Does that answer your question. :p

Sir, I use neither hands to type

But yes my question was a little rhetorical since I suspect you'll have many who don't realise the commitment involve

That said if you could change bluelight into a site about bee dogs, and stop talking about drugs then I would be more then happy to moderate all day long at work.

The work filters might freak out a bit otherwise

I hear you don't get sexual favours and midget porn as a mod anymore.

Instead, it's a lifetime supply of your favourite pictures of dogs in bee costumes printed and framed.

Sexual favours and midget porn are still part of the package, however, the dogs in bee costumes is just a concept and still on the drawing board.

*checks kat's forum privileges*

=D

Due to the Global Financial Crises, sexual favours and midget porn have been replaced by dinner with hoptis at a KFC of your choice followed by a night of financially conservative debauchery which includes lines of glucose powder and MSM until the morning light or we pass out from the sugar headaches.

Applications are due in tomorrow for those still interested in applying.

There will be no extensions to the closing date so make sure you get them in by 5 tomorrow afternoon. :)

Is that a promise or a threat? I'll take the KFC...

Applications are now closed for the Australian Drug Discussion moderator position. Thanks to everyone who applied and we hope to offer and then announce the position in the next week or so. The whole selection process can be drawn out at times, due to the checks and balances that take place, and we ask you stay patient in anticipation.

It won’t be long until a lucky punter gets to share a hot Zinger moment with Hoptis. =D

Aw, come on. New blood isn't a bad thing. Do you really want us oldies bossing you around for years to come ;)
