Rock 'n Roll / 1950-1965

Goree Carter [1949] - Rock Awhile

Rock Awhile is the first rock'n'roll with famous guitar intro later used in many rock'n'roll songs, and has been cited as the "first rock and roll record." Carter's over-driven electric guitar style was similar to that of Chuck Berry from 1955 onwards.

I've read somewhere that him and Chuck got their style from boogie-woogie, especially Chuck, in one interview he said that most of the time his early piano player would come up with all the rhythm bits. But they truly set a new ground for R n' R.

Johnnie Johnson was the one who played on his early albums but I don't think he went solo until like the 70-80s
