Stimulants Ritalin - ADHD suffers found this helpful?

Yeah that seems good. Increase the 1000mg if it is tolerable and consider lowering the taurine and l-theanine if you are feeling tired. The biggest effect you'll notice from this mixture is increase in concentration.

If indeed you need a pharmaceutical agents, i would recommend phenylpiracetam as it can be obtained legally and easily online.

hey,
I’ve tried adjusting the doses so this:

1000mg Rhodiola
300mg Taurine
400mg Caffeine
150mg L-Theanine

I have to say, I have really noticed a positive difference. I’ve got so much stuff done at work, and at home. Even just being more on top of personal admin like getting thehouse clean, getting clothes washed and also stuff I’ve never done like.. iron all my clothes for the week ahead of time instead of all at once. And I’ve actually been able to engage in a conversation with the Mrs and actually HEAR what she is saying and keep up with the convo.

the only thing I’m finding though is I am crashing Big time as the days goes on. Like really big time. Slept like a baby last night but keep drifting off just typing this post. Is it safe to take more / redose later on or is it better to split up the dosing?

As For phenylpiracetam - got some on the way. Do I take this in addition to the above or cut out the supplements?

I'm glad it is working for you, and that you have may have come across an alternative to prescription stimulants. They are effective but should be avoided unless necessary.

It is safe to split it up, and it is also safe to take more rhodiola. Some people take a few grams of rhodiola a day. Rhodiola is the strongest component of that stack, but also has a pretty pronounced crash. Most likely the crash you are feeling is from the rhodiola, and to a lesser degree, the caffeine. Staggering the rhodiola might help, or if the single 1000mg dose is effective you might try 1000mg followed by 500mg a number of hours later.

You could add the phenylpiracetam on top but you'll need to lower the doses. That said i'd try it alone to get a sense of how it treats you.

Hey. I have a diagnosis of adult ADHD and have been through a few different meds.

I can give my own experiences with each but nothing more. Each individual responds differently. However I do remember seeing data that showed amphetamine based meds have a higher tolerability profile than methylphenidate, meaning they work better with fewer side effects.

But as for my own experiences:

Concerta and methylphenidate in general was horrid. Made me feel wired and anxious like drinking too much coffee and the comedown caused bad depression.

Vyvanse was much more useful, but the time release is variable because it works by metabolising a prodrug rather than a traditional time release mechanism, so depending on what you ate that day and a million other things, either it lasts too long or not long enough or just doesn't work.

Dexedrine is the best, same drug as what Vyvanse metabolises into (dexamphetamine) but it's IR. I like that it kicks in quicker, I control how much I take during the day based on how much I need, and the comedown is also a lot smoother probably because I'm usually not on it all day long like you have to be with XR meds.

Can't really speak for Adderall since we don't really have it in the UK. It is technically possible to get, but you will have to pay a fortune as it's not covered under the NHS. Not really worth it when dex is essentially a cleaner version of the same drug anyway.

Hi,

thanks so much for the information, if it ever reaches the stage where I am likely to be medicated then I’ll really consider this info and discuss the pros and cons of each with the prescriber. This is exactly the type of info I was hoping for when I posted so I’m really grateful!

As an aside, how did you get your diagnosis - did you wait it out on a waiting list or did you go private? I only ask as if private, I wondered if you could recommend anyone ?

I’m definitely going to foot the bill for a private Adult ADHD/ASD specialist I’ve decided -partly to give myself a fair chance at being listened to genuinely but also because I feel like 30 odd years is a long enough wait.. I don’t want to waste any more of my life feeling this way.

can I just give you a genuine thank you because I know it’s very early days but I o don’t think I would have found this info anywhere else and the last two days on this stuff, I’ve felt the best i have in a long long time -like I’m ready to conquer the world 😂

thanks for the additional info - I’ll try redosing 500mg of the rhodiola in the early afternoon and see how I get on.

when I get thephenylpiracetam I’ll try on it’s own but if not quite doing it for me I might ask you for some more advice on doses if that’s ok?

Thanks again mate

Really brings me joy when i am able to help someone, especially if I can do so while minimizing harm by offering alternatives that are less harmful and addictive.

I've toyed with the idea of starting a supplement company that offered thoughtfully selected ingredients to effectively treat things like ADHD, anxiety, opioid withdrawal, depression and insomnia. Unlike alot of products of this sort, mine would actually work pretty well.

I went private. To use the specialist I saw would cost a fortune unless you have Bupa etc however I can recommend this site which has multiple ADHD specialists available for online private consultations for about £250. This is far far cheaper than seeing a private psychiatrist in person.

A mate of mine used that site to get his ADHD diagnosis, the doc literally asked him which meds he wanted after he filled out a couple of basic questionnaires and did a video chat. They will also write a reference to your NHS GP so you get your script from them. As long as your GP is happy to accept that recommendation (as it's private they technically have no obligation to, but usually a GP will still accept a specialist reference) you will have no problem getting your meds on the NHS as a normal repeat prescription and adult ADHD will be added to your medical record.

If you have questions about the process feel free to ask, I'm very familiar with it.

You should go for it. There is a big market there especially in the current trend of health supplements and people seeking non pharmaceutical alternatives. Hell, I’d invest - you certainly seem to know your stuff.

what would your indication for insomnia be? I’d love to get a nights sleep without resorting to a Benzo!

first of all, thank you so much for the link. Those prices have made it so much more possible for me to go private and it’s made my find up for me, so I’ll be booking with them imminently.

Would you have any objection to my PM’ing you a few questions around the assessment itself? I want to make sure I’m prepared this time and focus on the important things and not get sidetracked in to the less specific symptoms which major I did last time I managed to bet an appointment. I’ve started a diary of sorts of the kind of daily grief it gives me but actually I find it harder than I thought I would to articulate certain symptoms. I wouldn’t mind some advice on that front but didn’t want to be too presumptuous and bombard your inbox, you know.

No problem at all, PM away. I can also recommend the doctor my mate used too.
