i can't believe NC has such nice foliage at this time of the year. Almost looks like a giant cherry blossom but i would'nt know.

i haven't even seen a tree like that in michigan,

is it indigenous ? beautiful anyway.

I am glad you enjoyed it as much as I did! :) It is still almost 90 degrees here, so we still have lots of happy flowering plants and trees.

It is called a Crepe Myrtle tree. This is a pretty young one. As they get bigger, the clusters of ruffled flowers grow quite large. We have such beautiful flowering trees here. My favorite time of year is in April when the dogwoods bloom. Thousands of trees full of pink and white blooms as far as the eye can see.
 
My holiday I just got home from yesterday, it was exactly what I needed.
