Sixteen Year-Old Boy Electrocutes Himself After Being Told to Limit Game Play

A sixteen year-old boy named Yap Wai Chung from Petaling Jaya, Malaysia electrocuted himself after his father told him that he had to cut down on his online gaming time.

His parents were worried about his addiction to video games and told him he had to limit his playing time to one hour a day. Afterwards, Wai Chung ate his dinner and continued to play his game while his parents went to bed. He then electrocuted himself.

"We rushed to the study and found Wai Chung on the floor with electrical wires around his body," his father told the University Malaya Medical Center, where his body was sent for a post-mortem.

His father found a note by his computer asking his parents to give his beloved computer to a friend.

So, has he respawned yet?

HAHA. Need a rez?

This is sadly funny. First thing I thought when I saw this thread was "Oh shit, I bet you this is World of Warcraft"

I am not suprised at all. In fact, my only suprise is that the article's last line wasn't ....

in five other areas in South Korea within the same hour, twenty other Koreans and two Japanese immigrants died after playing World of Warcraft for similiar periods of time.

^i have a pretty good friend i hang out with all the time that spends almost all his free time on WoW so that's likely. I've seen another come close to doing that but I wasn't around long enough to see how addicted he was.

i think my brother is addicted to video games, or at least electronic stimulation. it is very sad and very serious....

Ok, as an avid player of World of Warcraft (although, I haven't played it in somewhat 2 weeks since I started using Heroin again... they are both very closely related anyways. ;) ) I have to step in and say, that if you no longer have a job, or go to school... it is very easy to spend a week playing a game like World of Warcraft around the clock.
The thing is... it's not the gametime that amazes me about these incidents, it's mainly how they managed to die whilst playing. This bring me to the assumption, that such people are in overall very poor physical condition, perhaps overweight, or not eating enough, possibly not going to the toilet regularly or drinking adequate fluids... or all of the above.

Another thing that amazes me is, why the hell are they playing in internet cafe`s when they can just play a game in the privacy of their own homes?
I dunno, I highly suspect that these people are Currency Farmers, that actually have to play around the clock, in order to "farm" enough gold, or other items to trade for gold at the Auction House (a trading system implemented in WoW that helps stabalise the economy of the game)... believe it or not, to some people this is actually a profession and they make a living from this.

It would just make more sense to buy a third party program that will operate a bot, that can do it all for you. and run these off multiple computers. Big money in currency farming, if you know what you're doing.
Just a pity, human flesh is being used for the labour at the cost of their lives.

Jesus Christ, what's wrong with these people? I spend a lot of time online, but come on.. you have to eat, get drunk, and live a life for fuck's sake. I think the person who invented these bizarre games that people get obsessed with is really an reincarnation of Charles Darwin.

I think commercialism is missing out on a great opportunity.

Imagine if you could get people to work this diligently in marketing or finance, whilst making them think they're playing an RPG? People would want to work 24-7. ;)

Tongue firmly in-cheek...
