i've also heard that iboga is very beneficial for healing depression.

iboga is more like a way to cure heavy addiction to, for example, heroin and most comparable substances, though some say it could cure depressions and anxiety problems as well.
I'd advise you though, if you are interested in giving this a try, NOT to just order it and do it on your own.
As far as I know it can lead to death, if you take it when you still have other meds in your body.
Also it is one hell of a trip. You most likely gonna puke everything out of your stomach and even more, until it hurts. Then the actual trip begins, lasting a very long time (20+ hours?!), while being more like a dream/delirium-like state.
A sitter is a MUST with ibogaine

@topic:
Male, 21, depressed, suffering from PTSD(sexual abuse in childhood), Anxious when around strangers(at least when sober), experienced with MDMA(low-high doses), 25i-NBOMe(low-mid doses), bk-2-cb(low-high doses), shrooms(low-mid doses)
Would participate in any studies around the above. Just let me know.

I lived with Depression for about 30 years. I took ONE DOSE of (good quality) MDMA in a carefully-prepared, clinical-type session and now I'm happy. I love my life. I'm not trying to be funny or provocative here - this is for real and I think it's a story worth telling. I'm just an ordinary guy who did for himself what mainstream medicine could not. Ï find typing tedious but I would be happy to provide more information to anybody who's interested. =D

I wish that treatment was more readily available. I've suffered with severe anxiety and panic attacks my entire life and depression since I was about 12-13 years old. Until I was about 12, every time I would have a panic attack I would faint. I still remember at 3 years old having a panic attack at the circus and at 4 years old at a children's museum. I've tried every kind of therapy and every medication over the years and nothing has worked. I'm now 26 and still have no relief. I'm basically stuck in my life and have almost zero hope for my future.

[h=1]Is it free choice or is it peer pressure?[/h]
Hi, I am writing a dissertation in to the study of club culture and recreational drug use. However, this study looks into what influences people to use such controlled substances. Is it free choice or is it an influence of friends? All questionnaires are submitted anonymously, so don't be shy to speak out loud.

Hello there. I wasn't expecting my first post to be related to this, but I also feel like there's something to therapeutic MDMA. I am struggling through some seriously life-hindering ptsd, and the VA has all but written me off as being "non-treatable". After 10 years of pretty much being disconnected and silently suffering, I had a friend in Germany give me a "therapeutic" dosing of pure MDMA and it sorted my head for almost a year. It eventually was overshadowed by my symptoms, so it wasn't a one-time, cure all for me, but it showed me that there are alternatives out there. For me, it was incredibly effective compared to anything the VA or outside medical help has ever offered. I'm back in the States now, and have been having a very rough year. I'm curious to see what the legal status of the drug is presently. I would be very open to any studies done to treat ptsd patients in this manner. I hear rumors of them, but then again I also hear rumors of Ayahuasca studies, so who knows? I'd be glad to share more of my story with any interested parties, along with how I got to the point of needing this type of help. Much love people!

Just putting it out their; I'm a 27 year old Australian females. I have stumbbled my way through life with very poor cognitive ability. I have a very sound understanding and solid insight into my handicaps. I believe I could provide researches with a different avenue of research options. I often phone Directline, iceadvice and lifeline (Australian government organisational mental health help lines) I find that my understanding, awaressness and knowledge is leaps and bounds above the textbook notes the councillors and phycologist memorise. Anyway, insightful Sally from down under would one day like to see the world have the same resources, knowledge and understanding for mental health as we currently do our physcial health. To many have deteriorated in their addiction, western society as we know it would never allow a physically ill person to be deteriorate allow and in pain, mental health/addiction is real, growing and distroying.

I'm new, but know this is a global forum so this will have limited geographic benefit. There is a center in Utah that frequently runs studies that recruits recreational users of opioids. The studies may be run for existing drugs begin developed with abuse-deterrent features. However, they are usually done in cross-over fashion so those in the study will always receive an active at some point in the study. The studies are also conducted to determine what, if any, abuse potential may exist for completely new drugs being developed for a wide array of indications. For example, one they are now, or soon will be conducting, is to assess such potential of a drug being developed to treat Parkinson's. http://volunteers.prahs.com/usa/studies/studies_crilt.php?team=CRILT&clinic_location=Salt Lake City

[USA] Seeking Volunteers with a Cancer Diagnosis
Hi, this isn't for me, but I did a search and didn't see it mentioned anywhere, so I thought I'd share...

I recently attended the NYC Horizons conference on psychedelics, and while there, heard Dr. Roland Griffiths, PhD, speak about a research project they are undertaking at Johns Hopkins University in Maryland. He mentioned that they are having an extremely difficult time finding volunteers for the project, moreso than they had ever imagined.
From the description on their site:
Researchers at the Johns Hopkins University are seeking volunteers with a current or past diagnosis of cancer who have some anxiety or are feeling down about their cancer to participate in a scientific study of self-exploration and personal meaning brought about by the entheogen psilocybin, a psychoactive substance found in mushrooms used as a sacrament in some cultures, given in a comfortable, supportive setting. Questionnaires and interviews will be used to assess the effects of the substance on consciousness, mood, and behavior.

It's exciting to see psilocybin undergoing human clinical trials in the United States. One caveat:
Volunteer must be between the ages of 21 and 70, have no personal history of severe psychiatric illness, or recent history of alcoholism or drug abuse, have someone willing to pick them up and drive them home at the end of the two psilocybin sessions (around 5:00 PM).
The study is in Maryland, and they do not have the funding to provide travel or lodging arrangements, but if you know of anyone in the area (either possible subjects, or anyone in the medical/psychology field who may be able to suggest patients of theirs etc), then please get in touch with them.
The link to the study where more details and contact info can be found is: http://www.bpru.org/cancer/insight/

(Volunteering) [AUS] Neurological Disorder following Drug Use

07-12-2008 06:47
I am a 30 year old male from Melbourne , Australia volunteering myself for any medical organisation conducting research in Victoria on the harms of recreational drug use or for any medical journals.

I am frustrated with spending the past 8 years of my life living with an illness that no one is able to help me with due to its rare and unusual nature, I am no longer willing to just sit here quietly and watch my life go past living with a rare illness. I am willing to do whatever it takes to try and have my case documented and investigated by the medical world.

I have developed a rare Neurological illness 8 years ago after suffering an overdose from a combination of party drugs like meth and ecstacy which I had been using at rave party's. My neurological illness has been diagnosed by various specialists and Neurologist as being "Autonomic Dysfunction" but they have yet to offer any cures or diagnose the more unusal, rare and uncommon symptoms and complications I've developed such as the constant overheating and allergic/chemical hypersensitivity to all psychoactive substances following the initial overdose which is still persisting in making life difficult everyday when attempting to take the much needed pain medication for my chronic pain.

I need to find someone willing to investigate the mechanics behind how its possible for someone to who was previosuly able to take all psychoactive substances reacreationally without incidence to suddenly develop a major significant allergic type reaction and hypersensitivity to ALL pyschoactive substances immedeately following an overdose. Furthermore I need to be investigated for the constant overheating and fevers I have been living with for the past 8 years. I also require an understanding into the hyperthermia I develop everytime I have a reaction to psychoactive substances like pain medications for eg.

I need someone willing to take on or document and publish my very rare case for other future medical cases that may arise such as mine and for scientists around the world to perhaps make some attempt to be aware of and help with a minority case like mine. All statements here regarding my illness are verified and proven and documented by Allergy specialist, Neuro-Pyschologist, Neurologist, a Professor in Autonomic Dysfunction and other specialists who are also finding my case very difficult to treat and diagnose, all these documents will be provided to you as proof to anyone willing to try and help me.

Unlucky, thanks for sharing this with us. I'm sorry to hear you've had such an adverse reaction and that it has negatively affected your life so badly.

We at Drug Studies haven't really considered the ability of this forum to advertise potential research participants looking for researchers to study them - but I think it makes sense. I'm not sure where to go with it though... until we get a core group of researchers checking this forum, I doubt it will be read by them. Growing awareness of BL and DS is on the list though.

As for your request, have you had any contact with Turning Point yet? Or ORYGEN? I think one or both of these places would take an interest and have the people with the right knowledge at least to talk further.

07-12-2008 16:34
Thanks very much for your advice, I had yet not heard of those services but after checking on google it seems it would not hurt to talk to them about it.

If my topic is unsuitable in this forum as I noticed theres not many others in my situation, feel free to delete it.

I actually remember reading your posts before, I'm sorry to hear this is still causing you so many problems.

08-12-2008 13:16
Unlucky, let us know about your progress with Turning Point and/or ORYGEN ---- if for some reason they don't respond, let me know and I'll see what my networks come up with, as I do know a few of them.

Glad to be of use :) I hope they come through for you! Dan Lubman is a good guy - has a lot of research and clinical experience; if anyone can help, I'd take a bet it would be him or anyone he would recommend.

27 year old. Diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, Panic Disorder, Anxiety, ADD. Diagnosed 13 years ago and have been on almost every anti-depressant in the book, as well as klonopin and adderall for the past 13 years.
Constantly doing my own reasearch and self-help reading as I wonder if my brain is still working correctly. Wonder if it has been in anyway damaged by long term use of all the medication. I have a high tolerance for all of my medications it seems and running out of options. I sometimes wonder if I am even properly diagnosed/properly medicated I would love a brain scan or something to find out. I would love anything that would improve my life. My panic attacks are linked with an uncommon phobia of vomiting.
I am interested in participating in anything I can. THANK YOU!

31 year old man, diagnosed with major depressive disorder, anxiety disorder, PTSD, insomnia and some other crap I can't think of right now. I would love to be a candidate for depression and anxiety trial drugs, substance abuse/maintenance drugs (opioid addict currently on Suboxone maintenance). Marijuana or psychedelic drugs for PTSD and major depression. Anything that could possibly help me enjoy my life for once. If you're interested in contacting me post a message here I guess

It's a different kind of study, but I've always wondered what the exact diagnosis is for someone who has always drug affect them a certain way, and then another person have that drug affect them differently, and whether or not they have the same diagnosis.
Example:
2 people. One has been diagnosed with ADD, one has no mental illness. Give them both a controlled dose of methamphetamine and document the way it hits them, makes the feel, their behaviors, etc. Often, I see meth either speed someone up, talking their heads off, all over the place, or put someone else on the couch, being almost totally quiet and in their head, when normally they're at least somewhat sociable. That's just a simple experiment, but I like knowing the answers to everything. I'm interested in drugs and how they affect different people from a recreational standpoint. Documenting natural and built-up tolerances and what predisposes someone to have and higher natural tolerance, why would 95% of people fall in love with a drug and 5% don't? Preference or brain chemistry. Is it possible to be affected one way, then be clean X amount of time, come back and the drug affect you didferentlt? Nothing too deeply scientific, but little things I'm curious to know about. I can use my own experiences, but I'm just 1 person.

Hi pdthresh, the use of swim is not allowed on Bluelight. It really offers no more protection than your anonymous user name so no need and makes reading easier for all.<3 So, my advice for you is to edit your thread to the first person and then ask these questions about iboga therapy in the Psychedelic subforum as well as Sober Living--many people have experience they could share with you. If you are truly motivated to seek out this therapy for opiate dependence it will depend on what country you live in.

Mixing SSRIs with MDMA with have little to no effect and can be very dangerous. MDMA is a serotonin & noradrenaline releasing agent it operates by releasing large amounts of serotonin & Noradrenaline it's why you experience large amounts of euphoria. SSRIs limit the absorption of serotonin by the brain thus cancelling each other out.
But it can be dangerous because all the serotonin released plus the reuptake inhibitor will "stock" massive amount of serotonin leading to serotonin syndrome ( can be fatal)

And it's the same with cathinones, not sure about tryptamine but i think it's the same
So dont do that !

Edit: just see the post date from a long time but can be useful to others

I'm a day late to the party here, literally just came across this thread (Do'h!). But of course, I'd be more than willing to participate in any studies that would significantly help mankind!

Just let me know,
