Ice `no spice for sex lives'

DRUG dealers are marketing methamphetamine, or ice, as a "young persons Viagra''.

National Drug Research Institute director Steve Allsop yesterday warned teenagers not to be conned by claims that it could spice up their sex lives.

Mr Allsop said drug dealers came up with all sorts of pitches to get people hooked on ice.
Amphetamines are often marketed as drugs that can prolong sex and increase libido.

Drug dealers are also bragging that ice's effects include lowered inhibitions and increased promiscuity.

Mr Allsop said taking ice and having sex could be fatal.

"People who are vulnerable to cardiovascular issues and engage in sex while on amphetamines run a serious risk of going to hospital,'' Mr Allsop said.

There was a strong link between ice and sexually transmitted diseases.

"There are a number of risks associated with taking amphetamines and engaging in sexual activities,'' Mr Allsop said.

"In particular there is a high risk of unprotected sex and contracting sexual diseases.''

Det-Sen-Sgt Paul McMurtrie, of the Organised Crime Squad, said amphetamine abuse by WA teenagers had reached chronic proportions.

WA had the highest level of amphetamine abuse in the country.

This year, 36 amphetamine drug labs have been uncovered in WA homes.

I cannot believe that I just read that.

^^Is this true? If so thats pretty scary, for most people I know the sole purpose of using ice is for sex.

Cross Bones.... ;)

^No,
Capt'n...
I feel much more 'int'rested'
on insuf. meth than I've ever felt on ice...

...anyway....

:)

Ofcourse meth and sex is more dangerous than sober sex.
Elevated heart rate and blood pressure, not being able to cum for hours or if you do, getting horny again and having sex multple times.

Next time youre fucking tune into your heart rae, unless youre some athlete youll realise your heart rate is pretty high, so that mixed with meth can be dangerous to unfit people, especially since meth can make you push your body more than it can normally cope.

I guess that would be even more dangerous for fatter, unfit ppl doing the do on meth too.

Any increase in physical activity, while on a stimulant, is going to place more stress on your cardiovascular system than if you weren't under its influence.

Although your heart rate increases when having sex normally - there is no doubt it increases exponentially when under the influence of stimulants. I have no doubts that someone with a pre existing cardiovascular condition could face problems if they mixed meth into the sexual equation.

Oh noes! In that case you better not take meth at a rave if you plan on dancing, your heart rate will elevate and you could die...

Its always a possability.

Hell I witnessed someone drop at a popular hardcore brisbane rave and start convulsing and he died later on in hospital. what from? excessive alcohol consumption before the rave, a pre existing heart problem and dancing.

what was the outcome? the news saying an easter bunny was handing out drug laced easter eggs to young ravers and the start of operation walk the line and a bunch of illegal rude searches in the valley in brisbane for one and a half years now

From what I understand, ice acts as a blood vessel constrictor? So I'd imagine that increased physical activity while on the effects could indeed cause problems from increased heart rate, blood flow issues, etc...

The bit about STD's is a bit stupid though. Having unprotected sex on ice is no different to unprotected sex without ice, and at a guess, the legions of people who go out every weekend to get blotto and pick up are much more at risk. It's like they were writing the article and thought 'What else can I add as scare tactics? I know, we'll tell people ice gives you AIDs!'

Theyre just saying if you get horny you might be more likely to have sex unprotected, but this happens for any intoxicant.
