NEWS: Daily Telegraph - 11/12/08 'Cokehead should be ashamed'

OT... Was in Canada a few years back and did coke for my first (and only) time. Ran into some randoms who offered me some so I went with it. Ended up in an apartment on East Hastings St (dodgey part of Vancouver) with them shooting, me smoking.

When I mentioned that back home I smoke a bit of meth they both looked at me with disgust, which I thought was pretty funny.

Good on her for getting paid! She really lucked out.

I don't see the attraction in coke, if it was cheap then I could see the point but what the fuck is with paying so much for a short lived and mediocre high. I agree with everyone who says methamphetamine stomps cocaines weak ass to the pavement.

I have a few friends who indulge occassionally and seem to think quality has really picked up in Australia, it is unfathomable to me what they will pay to be high for a few hours and then frown upon drugs that are not only cheaper but better overall aswell.

Yea increased from 10% to 20% =D Whoopty doo lol

The only time I have ever been satisfied with cocaine was when I did it Thailand. great feeling, and it was only $xx for half a gram. However, it turns me into a bit of an arrogant wanker. When it wears off all I can think of is having more, and am absolutely hating everyone elses company.
The coke I've tried in Australia has been dismal. There's no way I can justify spending that amount of money on something so crappy. I think MDMA and amphetamines shit all over the cocaine in Aus.

i gotta say i find this chick so faaarkin sexy

Sex n drugs are awesome lol

^^^ Lol they're the same chick man...

But yeah don't rate em that high either...

I wouldn't knock her back, quite like the curvy-mediternean look:D

Like a number of others have said, I've never really understood the Coke obsession, but I've had pretty limited experience with it, and probably only ever had rubbish.

I say good on the girl, not only did she avoid peddling the "i'm so sorry, Iv'e got mental health issues thats why I do drugs" crap but she did drugs, was a good at her job in the Attorney-Generals Department and apparently would be welcomed back and has also got a nice payout too. Wonder if the douche-bag of a journalist is 'embarrassed' about all the disease, domestic abuse etc caused by booze when hes downing a few schooners on a Friday arvo. Thats assuming hes not a hypocritical prick that indulges himself, which wouldn't suprise me at all.

farkin sexy

she would go like a zertec

HAHHAHHAHAHAHHAHHAHAH

I think people who "don't get coke" are missing the point.

It is a different high than ice/mdma. Take purity out of it, and a lot of coke consumers take it because it doesn't fuck you up and you are able to function with Joe Blow being none the wiser. Australia (and by the look of it, most of Bluelight) has the "lets get royally fucked up as fast as possible" take on socialising. Why sit in the sun and sip a glass of good wine when you could do shots and be drunk by noon?

It's like comparing smoking cigarettes and cigars. You don't smoke fat Cuban cigars just because you can triple your nicotine in take. If what you are after is a drug to sustain you for 8 hours on the town then ice is your friend. If you are in a relaxing social environment (an afternoon on a yacht sailing with beautiful friends works for me) and you want to be able to drive home and be fresh for work come Monday, then Charlie fits the bill. The convenience of it wearing off after an hour is actually a good thing for some people. People who complain about then fiending for more are just weak in my opinion, and should stick to their UDL's and pingers.

If you are the man I met once that was chipping away with an ice pick at a brick the size of.......well, a brick, then you could probably disregard everything I just wrote. ;)

^ have to justify the exhorbitant price tag to yourself somehow I guess...

I guess if you decide to sit there and fiend on a gram, but I would pay a lot more for some bottles of wine/champagne. It's all relative, why spend the weekend at Versace when you could have a room with a bathroom at the Holiday Inn down the road? Hell I even put premium unleaded in my turbo charged car when I could just buy a second hand commondore :\

That would be a valid line of thought if the high provided by cocaine was somehow superior to that of methamphetamine. In reality though, it's the other way around (and especially so in Australia, where cocaine is notoriously impure). Meth is simply a superior drug in every respect.

Coke is a status symbol, that's it. It isn't some kind of specialist, connoisseur's stimulant, it's just 'look at me, I'm snorting $50 lines every 20 minutes.' In those examples you provided, all of those products supply a more enjoyable, pleasurable experience. You buy expensive wine because it tastes better, you pay for an expensive hotel room because it will be more comfortable, better furnished, better serviced. With stimulants in Australia, the more enjoyable option also happens to be the cheaper one, the only point in spending all that money on coke is so you can say 'look at me, I'm spending all this money on coke.' You do coke on the weekend so you can spend your week talking about how you were doing coke on the weekend.

Gotta side with crankinit here Busty, I think your argument might hold water in some places that don't pay a ridiculous amount for coke that is usually shite but in Austalia its just bollocks.

No matter how you try twist it the fact of the matter is cocaine IS a status symbol and that is what people are paying for. There are good things about cocaine and I'm not calling it a shit drug but when you pay these high prices for it you essentially paying for a brand name. Like how Nike shoes cost shitloads more than some unheard of brand, there might not even be much or any difference in quality but the brand name sells.

U the man mentor:)

As u were saying ur just paying for the name. People in Peru, Bolivia and Columbia think that coke is for junkies because its so cheap there. An MDMA pill costs alot more than a gram of coke there. Why do people wear Georgio Armani suits and etc? Not just because of how nice it looks. Coke is a nice drug but way too over hyped. I donno i got pretty severe hangovers from coke, made me so angry on the comedown and i felt like shit. Pretty hardcore stuff if u ask me just like most man made synthetic drugs.

I'm not arguing that coke gives more bang for your buck, what I'm saying is that a lot of people do not see $$$ as very much. I think it is petty when you think people are only using as a status symbol. If you are earning $500 an hour it is hardly a stretch to shout your mates a gram. Not every one who earns a good crust wants to flaunt it.

They still have the choice to use a cheap drug like ice but prefer the subtle experience of coke. Not every one wants to tweak for a whole day, or have to worry about blowing the bag when they drive home.

^ Just because the cost doesn't matter to a lucky few earning 500 an hour doesn't mean that a majority of people aren't using it as a status symbol.

BTW, you should know better than to list prices man, do me a favour and edit your post.

I am not arguing whether its a shit drug or whether every single person uses it as a status symbol but the fact remains that IS what you are paying for. That is why it costs so much (obviously our distance from South America plays a role but many countries as far away don't pay what we do!) and to your average drug user it is simply not worth it.

The majority of coke users aren't people earning $500 an hour, they're white collar professionals in the upper 5/low 6 figures I would imagine. People for whom $[the price of a gram of coke] is affordable, but still a fair chunk of money.

coca cola and me

i got on the coke quit a lot some months ago and found the high to be awesome and wicked in the sack but found the high didnt last anywere near long enough maybe 15 mins at max and uncle charlie was what i call pretty good quality but you get a tolerance to it really quickly and to have a good night i reckon you need at least 2 grams but i have to say even if get to bed at 3am i can still get up at 8 am and go play sport or work and feel good and i can also drive and have no worry of arrest or fines for these reasons alone it was quit good but at about $$$ per g is is a hobbie you cant keep for long

but you know the old saying distance makes the heart grow fonder
