I recently started taking 50mg naltrexone per day orally. I've played with the thought for a year or so before finally meeting a psychiatrist who suggested it (along with urging me to keep smoking pot, go figure).

I am in treatment for chronic pain, which has to be put on hold for now and would therefore much rather have a selective kappa antagonist, but am willing to give this a go. 4 weeks ago I met the woman of my dreams and I really want to stay off needles now. So much to lose. However, side effects seem rather rough:
-I slept 17 hours after the first dose.
-I got diarrhea
-I feel nauseous
-My body aches
-I feel emotionally blunted

I'd like to hear some of your experiences with this.

Will the side effects fade?
Has anyone experienced affective instability on it?
Did it help you stay sober at all?
Has anyone used it for acute episodes of craving?

I really want to go through with it this time around. I have a daughter of almost 6 who needs me emotionally available at all times and the woman I met just blows my mind - I never even considered this to be possible.
