Mushrooms: Are they right under our noses?

Ok so I have this field close to my house and I have gotten permission by the owner to do some "research" Now yesterday I went to the field and saw a couple of nice looking mushrooms growing out of a pile of shit. Well I squeezed the stem and sure enough it turned a bluish purple color. I wonder if I have the real thing. how should I go about finding out if its real. And no Im not just gonna go for the gold and eat 3 of um. I dont wanna kill myself here. Thanks, Mikey
