sweet film, made kinda like children of men, crossed with myst. i like good sci-fi/horror that comes with little to no exposition. seems so much more real that way.

It was decent, certainly better than, say, Cloverfield. What was interesting to me was how different this movie would have been had the monsters been replaced with something mundane like a war. Good chemistry between the main characters, too.

Just saw it and I thought it was pretty good. When I read synopses of it, I thought it was going to be a Sci-Fi channel monster movie, but it's clearly anything but. The actors played their roles well, the cinematography was on-point, the special effects (while clearly not top-of-the-line) didn't detract from the sense of realism, and the monsters were intriguing while not being overly violent and aggressive (if anything, the military was more aggressive than the monsters).

I also really liked the ending. They didn't let the romantic subtext between the two characters interfere with the reality of their situations; the girl was engaged and the guy was her boss's employee, if they had run off to live "happily ever after" together, I would have called BS. It just ends: the army comes in and separates them and the credits roll.
