Hey this morning I saw some foul graffiti on a bath room wall some whipper snapper wrote saying "MMDA (not MDMA) can be synthesised by boiling myristicin in ammonia" whoever wrote this should be whipped in front of a statue of Hitler then slapped silly. But is it tru though?

Ammonia cant be incorporated into an alkene that easily! Or else i wont have to read alot about how to "hydroamination" effectively.
So, what i can say is No, you cant do that. (100bar without correct catalyst/ligand wont add NH3 to an unactivated double bond either; and yes i havnt not yet talkign about Markovnikov's rule either)
