Mexico ex-defense chief held in US on drug allegations

"We're facing an unprecedented situation" Lopez Obrador said, noting that two former Mexican ministers are now detained in the US on allegations of links to drug cartels.

This book is great and explains allot of the Mexican situation from the 60s 70s 80s and 90s

The Drug Lord, http://druglord.com/

Basically Mexico has been a narco state since the 80's or possibly before. Murder, torture and huge drug businesses are completely overlooked as long as the cash is flowing. The prohibition of drugs creates incentive that will always corrupt and the nature of that black market will always generate extreme violence. When the stakes are high enough, like they are in entry points to a massive market like the US, we see what extreme cases of both look like. They look like present day Mexico.

Go drug war.. expanding what it fails to stop into an irresistible hell.

A federal judge dismissed drug-trafficking and money-laundering charges against Mexico’s former defense minister after Attorney General William Barr asked the court to drop the case to preserve the U.S. law enforcement partnership with Mexico.

letting the high level dealers go to preserve relations with them. How pathetic can the drug war get? Fucked like a football bat.
