CH you have had an awful lot on your plate recently so don't beat yourself up. remember this shit isn't linear.

getting on the right meds for your PTSD will help enormously. mine are quite unbelievably effective.

shitting myself a bit about starting a job next month. i'm fucking exhausted and have a headache and i don't know how i'm going to cope with having to work consistently 9-5.30 5 days a week if i can't cope with my current, lower, activity levels. gonna have to start going to bed a lot earlier but i plan to do that every fucking night and fail every time.

I woke up feeling a lot better. Normally I feel immensely better when benzos kick in, but sometimes I have an incredibly poor mindset to shake myself free from.

The "I have to be doing something right" perspective was shared to me by others before but it doesn't do much for my mind as I don't feel I am the operator of this life experience (a rather calming truth as much has gone awry along the way and I don't want to feel personally responsible for all of it). I also don't think there's much I can change at this point. Much appreciated guys, much love.

I feel better today and perhaps I will stay medicated to stay relaxed. I think the last semester and all the real life shit that happened in the same time frame really mentally took it out of me.

chinup; be thankful the hours are during the daytime, but honestly, you can do it! CONGRATS on the 9 to 5 and I know you'll do fine. Coffee in the morning is something a lot will be doing but it's totally doable. There are breaks, you get a lunch break, and if the job is nice enough I'm sure you won't feel totally worn out at the end of every day.

I am glad meds work for you, I am afraid I have proven quite resistant to them.
 
Been having a lot of negative thoughts so will probably take some xanax to even out. Trying to be happy, it's seeming pretty hard.

Most times, words will be interpreted as insincere and therefore can do more harm than good. I'm not preaching the philosophy/religion/idea/concepts of Buddhism and neither am I anything other than a lay Buddhist that has not been putting in the right-effort either and so I have no right to give advice on how to stabailize the mental aspects of our beings but here's my weak azz attempt. When my best friend's wife took her own life, my best friend had tried to kill himself years ago; over 10 years ago several times and in several ways. He actually flat-lined for quite a long time and doctors do not know how he could have survived because it was supposed to be impossible. Remember I am currently ascribing to the Buddhist Philosophy and so am not directly or necessarily believing in a higher power as that questions can just be Trivial or distract from dealing with the real issues and within Humanity and within the hearts of Humanity and the suffering of all of it's creatures that feel pain (ie. sentient beings...us humans, animals, etc.). I have always enjoyed reading about comparative religion in general. In fact, I'm checking out Shintoism right now the indigenous religion of the Japanese people (as DMT users find that nature speaks out to them after having tripped) . But back to Buddhism and its core principles. Therapists with PHD's could not help him, doctors could not help him, X Religions that believe so much in a higher power did not help him. HIs answer to his therapist about how he overcame his desire to commit suicide. He just said: "Buddhism" and the PHD was just dumbfounded because all of those letters by his name just made him feel like a fool having wasted all the time in money in trying to obtain those letters and gettings schooled and beginning to experience getting schooled by one who studied the Philosophy of Buddhism.


1. The Truth of Suffering dukkha
The Buddha declared that this world if full of suffering; that actual existence including birth, decrepitude, sickness and death is suffering and sorrow. This is called the Truth of Suffering.

2. The Truth of the Cause of Suffering samudaya
The cause of human suffering lies in ignorance and Karma. Ignorance and its resulting Karma have often times been called "desire" or craving. The Buddha declared:
Verily it is this thirst or craving, causing the renewal of existence, accompanied by sensual delight, seeking satisfaction now here, now there - the craving for gratification of the passions, for continual existence in the worlds of sense.

3. The Truth of the Cessation of Suffering nirodha
The extinguishing of all human ignorance and Karma results in a state known as Nirvana. This is the Truth of the Cessation of Suffering.

4. The Truth of the Path to the Cessation of Suffering marga
The Truth of the Path to the Cessation of Suffering is the Noble Eight-fold Path.


The Noble Eight-fold Path

1. Right Views - to keep ourselves free from prejudice, superstition and delusion and to see aright the true nature of life.
2. Right Thoughts - to turn away from the evils of this world and to direct our minds towards righteousness.
3. Right Speech - to refrain from pointless and harmful talk to speak kindly and courteously to all.
4. Right Conduct - to see that our deeds are peaceful, benevolent, compassionate and pure; to live the Teaching of the Buddha daily.
5. Right Livelihood - to earn our living in such a way as to entail no evil consequences.
6. Right Effort - to direct our efforts incessantly to the overcoming of ignorance and selfish desires.
7. Right Mindfulness - to cherish good and pure thoughts for all that we say and do arise from our thoughts.
8. Right Meditation - to concentrate our will on the Buddha, His Life and His Teaching.

Since these eight paths can be put into the categories of precepts, meditation and wisdom we can say that the path of practice of Buddhism is the Three Vehicles of Learning. By following the precepts we learn to control the body and mind. Through mediation we learn to unify our mind. Wisdom is attained by the practice of the above two and through this wisdom all ignorance and passions are cut off and true state of Enlightenment is then realized.

As we look upon Buddhism we find that the various ways of explaining this state of Nirvana and the methods of attaining that state of Enlightenment are not one. The reason for this is that Buddha's sermons were like the diagnosis of a good physician. Just as a physician prescribes his medicine according to his diagnosis of the patient, so the Buddha taught teaching which were simple or complicated, high or low, according to the capabilities of his congregation. Again, even though the sermon is the same the disciples interpreted it differently. Thus, through its long history Buddhism underwent many changes.

I'm very familiar with perspectives such as this. Thank you for sharing with the thread though.

Waited half an hour and it didn't really seem to help to wait it out any longer, heart pounding, feeling quite anxious without reason, and some flashbacks and stuff so I took 1mg and I'll wait this out a little while longer.
 
mods! where is the june recovery thread? seriously i have a lot of complaining about june to do and it feels wrong to taint may (the month i was born, no less) with it.
