Anybody know if loperamide causes fluid retention? I am withdrawing from opiates and started
the loperamide 4 days ago at 68mg. I've since tapered down 8 loperamide tablets per day (16mg each day) going from 1st day-68 mg or 34 tablets>2nd day-42 mg or 21 tablets>3rd day-26 mg or 13 tablets>4th day-10 mg or 5 tablets, which where I am now. I guess I'll drop to no tablets tomorrow.

Each day, however, I've watched myself grow more and more bloated. I bet I've gained 10 lbs. in the last few days and can currently press deep, long lasting dents into my ankles and feet. Is this due to loperamide? I've noticed that 7 or more hydrocodone tablets do the same thing. Just wanted to know if any of you know whether opiates or loperamide cause severe water retention?

:?:?:?

Did you have any bowel movements? Because that sounds like constipation for me which would just be the normal result of taking that much Loperamide.
Be careful with this. You don't want that to get serious...
