The rain is gently tapping at my window,
it looks like a storm is brewing
You're somehwere beneath the ashtray sky
and I keep wondering how you're doing

I run in circles with this heavy sentiment
I wish I had the guts to say,
instead I'll write it down
Heavy is the head, I know my dear
but you look beautiful in your crown

I feel vulnerable, naked and undone,
around you I can't help but feel exposed
Like all these scars that I've collected
are the threads
that constitute my clothes

And you didn't care about the damage done,
but just stepped into my shadow,
ran straight into the dark
I felt the explosion of searing lights
as your fingertips graced my heart

The rain is gently tapping at my window,
somehow time is moving all too fast
I cling to this feeling that you left
but I fear that I might choke it,
and I'm terrified that it will pass
