Is it true that you cannot be prescribed/take benzos if you're taking ADHD meds (ie. Ritalin/Dexamfetamine)

Would any beer help? I just looked it up and it seems that stout has a higher alcohol level than normal beer. Is that why you prefer it? I'm trying this in future. If I buy wine I just drink it until the cask has gone so that's out for me for now.
Stout is what my father prefers, so that's my preference too. I like rich beers, and stout is right at the top.

In theory a single dr. could prescribe you whatever he think's necessary. Recently the assurance company's got more influence. So prescription does not equal cost free.

My personal experience is GP's/ Homedr's can prescribe Benzo's and end your Dex-Amphetamine. The latter they cannot prescribe, in order to do so you will need another reference from your doc for a psychiatrist. Who may, or may not prescribe ADHD med's. He will however not stop existing medication's you are on. A benzo in this context, as they probably have no adverse interaction.

Benzo's however are not covered by insurance (over here), and Dex seems to be going that same direction.

In Australia a psychiatrist can prescribe you pretty much anything he likes. On label or off label. But if you have history of addiction he has to get a second opinion for some drugs likes benzos and stimulants.

I remember when trying to get treated for anxiety post-meth and post-coke addiction my psych insisted we trial every possible alternative before benzos. Started with beta blockers, moved to SSRI’s, then AP’s. When it all failed we tried ECT - which really ended up working.

Ironically he did end up prescribing me valium in the end but only to occasionally help with sleep when I was a bit manic. Not for anxiety. He was quite insistent and clear they were not for anxiety, just for sleep during a manic episode.

Did you have ECT? How did that go? Were you forced to try it? I worry sometimes that I will be forced to have it.

Spoke to my psychiatrist and was informed that I cannot take benzos if I'm currently taking certain ADHD meds.

Is this actually true? And if so, is there any specific policy that stipulates that I cannot take anxiety meds like diazepam whilst I am prescribed stimulants for ADHD?

Honestly, it's almost hilarious. One would think that it's still possible to experience panic attacks (I usually have one or two a month, the last one was brought on by a sudden spike in my right-side tinnitus, which thankfully went away after a few days of "distorted" glassy wineglass like ringing with certain voices which created a second layer of sound on top of the voice). I hit it with high dose prednisone, high dose antivirals and 3-days of pentoxifylline and it went away.

I would hope that I'm not inadvertently damaging my health with the aforementioned drugs, but the question about ADHD meds being taken with benzos is the most important one.
Not true in the U.S. I don't know about Australia

Well I was aware of the hospital experience. Being in my room. Being prepped for the procedure. Waking up in recovery. But in those respects it is almost identical to any procedure which also requires a general anaesthetic. Of the procedure itself I have no recollection. Or even of being in the

I had 12 sessions if I recall correctly. About a week apart usually. After the first few it was difficult to differentiate any change in my psychology from the post anaeathetic feelings. However over the weeks my mood lifted and my anxiety was measurably dissipating.

It was most noticeable when I left the hospital each time. My then G.F. would pick me up and we’d go for a drive and have breakfast somewhere. Each time those little drives and breakfasts became more pleasant and enjoyable and more carefree and relaxed. The mornings just seemed brighter quite literally.

I quickly noticed I had memory gaps emerging though. I forgot my phone number, the name of my regular nurse, my GF’s cats names. Things like that. But I already had memory problems from MDMA abuse from years previously so forgetting a few more things didn’t seem like a big deal.

Dr's presumption, but ime a lot of the so called AD(H)D-ers also like drugs.

And they function very well on them i might add.
That is probably true. But I think a lot of people who like drugs also frequently diagnose themselves with ADHD to justify their stim habits. It's also not that difficult to present yourself to a psych ticking all the ADHD boxes if you have half a brain and a poor school record. Especially the psychs that specialise in ADHD and think everyone has it anyway.

LSD beat s the available AD(H)D treatments, by long shot.
I’m not disagreeing with you. But I would be interested in reading studies that compared psychadelics to stimulants for ADHD. I believe taking LSD has helped some parts of my cognition but I don’t feel it’s been as good for attention and focus as dexamfetamine has.

Through my own action's I had them prescribed for ages, First Methylphenidate late on Dex-amphetamine.

in hindsight they neither helpt long term. Just like psychedelics. Temporary fixes
