What determines whether a drug's effects are dependent on one's size? Is it largely due to the route of administration? For example, I know alcohol is very dependent on size and figured maybe this is because it's consumed orally and must be processed by the liver. But lsd on the other hand isn't very dependent and i figured maybe it's because it doesn't have to pass through the liver or digestive system or whatever it is some drugs have to do, but rather it reaches the bloodstream by just absorbing through any part of your body, like your fingertips or you tongue.

Why true LSD absorbs through the fingertips is in part its high solubility with water and remember majority of our body is water hence the cliche stories you hear about people going "insane" from accidentally coming in contact with a large amount of LSD.
Alcohol is predominantly metabolized in the liver, but absorption begins immediately upon ingestion.

In relation to the efficiency of specific drugs being dosage dependant upon LBM variations...this little article will explain to you the alteration of pharmacokinetics in conjunction with various body sizes. http://ceaccp.oxfordjournals.org/content/4/5/152.full
Remember that chemical tolerance and genetic dispositions could render key receptors and metabolic enzymes inactive which will also heavily influence the effects from drugs.
