okay.. in the news today was this article which talks about the newspaper taking some drug swipes and testing various place around melbourne...

the following amused me:

Evidence of illegal drug use was found from just a single random test at each of eight popular city spots.

Only three sites tested were clear.

The tests, commissioned by the Sunday Herald Sun, were conducted with Securetec DrugWipe kits, used by customs officers and police.

Traces of heroin, cocaine and amphetamines were detected at Federation Square.

Heroin and amphetamines were found on a cubicle surface at Chadstone shopping centre.

Traces of cocaine and amphetamines showed up on a swab inside cubicles at yesterday's Caulfield Cup.

The Sunday Herald Sun was even offered cocaine by one reveller in the male toilets at the races.

Cocaine and amphetamines were detected at Crown Casino's foodhall toilets.

Traces of amphetamines and cannabis were recorded at Queen Victoria Market and Flinders St Station.

Cannabis residue was discovered at Greater Union cinemas on Russell St.

At the popular Matthew Flinders Hotel, in Chadstone, traces of cocaine and amphetamines were found.

which gets me thinking.. i can understand the races and the casino.. but there were a few that puzzled me..

chadstone - (for the non melbournians, its a massive shopping centre) seriously.. why would you go there and consume something??

federation square - okay, i give that one.. you need enhancements just to make the building look normal..

but..

Matthew Flinders Hotel - seriously - what the fuck? who would waste their time, money and party enhancements on that place???

which gets me to thinking... where are some of the stranger places you (or "someone you know") has consumed some kind of illegal substance??

(just remember to keep to the guideliens ppl. no talk about current / future drug possession or drug use. unless you are from WA and used to enjoy a game of football occasionally)

I don't know much of those places, as I'm not from Melbourne.

But from the looks of it, you're coming at this from the perspective of a recreational user. eg. 'Why would you take it at A, A isn't a fun place.'

However, maybe the drugs being used in some of the places aren't so much recreational, but heavier users who needed their hit, wherever they might have been.

damn you and your relevant points!!

okay.. lets forget about those with a dependence...

Strange places... hmm.

A friend racked up some magic love inducing pink coloured powder off a for sale sign on a park bench in the middle of the city somewhere. I heard a few sniggers from people as they walked past us.

The toilets at a bowls club! There were ads for adult diapers on the walls.

hehehe. I saw this article while flicking thru the pages of the Herald over dinner n reminded me of cubicle exploits at Flinders Station on our way to an event, plus other such exploits at various CBD locations/landmarks.
the city holds so many drug-related memories for me, dunno if thats a thing to look upon fondly or with unease :\ =D

as for the Chaddy findings well- yeah prolly due to people with addictions but for example, when I used to work casually at a shopping centre n if I'd been out all night going hard no sleep sometimes it's just easier to push on n keep goin to way u have been to ensure you last until you can finally get home n to bed/R&R. But i've solved such dilemmas at home just before I go to work- wouldnt risk it/feel comfortable in pepping myself up in the bathrooms at the centre.
guess that doesn't really give an explanation but any location no matter how odd or inappropriate- for someone at some time it may be or be deemed appropriate ey. /necessary..

man that big black trapdoor-lookin spider on the wall over there i recently noticed is making me feel uncomfortable. i keep glancing at it. if i spray it it'll move/scrurry eek

Fucking weirdo

that's a place to do it if there ever was.

miss_goody2shoes thanks... now i'm paranoid. there's a moth on my wall and i'm now worried this huge huntsman that i've (and when i say i have i mean my dad) taken outside twice already is going to return to consume it like it was in the process of doing to another moth the second time it was removed

A friend and i, years ago, blew a joint on the huge Ferris Wheel at the Ekka- fun times, trying to suck as much as we could as the ride went up, and then holding our breaths and waving the smoke away as the carriage went down past all the waiting kids and nannas.
=D

I'm going to guess that people with addictions will do it anywhere; shopping centres, uni, work, everywhere they go.

Candy Flippin + Sydney International Motor Show = Please leave motor show

Nike Pill + Freinds Wedding = blubbering mess at how beautiful the speeches where

I have mixed feeling when recalling these events, e.g. "come on mate.... why cant i cuddle the Ferrari?"

Been there, done that...probably wouldn't do it again.

I havent really done that many weird places. Myself and a mate took a guy out around Darling Harbour for the night during the week for his first pop. Was awesome :D Apart from being mid week and probably looking dodgy as walking around Sydney CBD at all hours of the night...

:D

I bet you made all sorts of plans to hang with cars you met, but then never called them the next day.

It's the Herald Sun. The newspaper industries' answer to Today Tonight. Panicky garbage catering to the lowest common denominator.

Who knows how short - long the drugs were done on those various surfaces (and how many different people) ago. Once again, another one for the lowest common denominator as mentioned above ^^
