Hi,

I have a prescription for viagra from my doctor but insurance wont cover the cost which is $700. I was going to order some sildenafil citrate from a certain chinese importer site and confirm the structure with proton NMR and melting point tests. This is only for personal consumption and although the minimum order is 1 kg I would like to request only 100 grams and pay the cost of 1 kg. It is enough to last me over a decade and I don't want to order a truly egregious amount. Should I worry too much about customs on this or do they have much bigger fish to fry with this? I figure raw powder is less bad than pressed tablets because the former is far less sellable.

You can buy the generic viagra for much cheaper than prescription costs and a lot of suppliers will happily send you several packets instead of ordering in kgs. You would need to check the laws in your state but one thing to take into consideration is that Viagra doesn't have a very long shelf life so don't buy thinking they will last you 10years.

Also importing a couple of packets of viagra would raise very little suspicion compared to importing a bag of white powder from China.

True but most viagra sold in pill form from most of those suppliers is adulterated with nasty things, plus I am not really sure where I would go for that kind of supplier since there is very little in between sketchy pharmacy sites and importer sites. I know the bottles are labled 1 year expiration but frequently those recommendations are wrong. this study found that sildenafil in liquid suspension in the presence of oxygen showed greater than 98% potency after three months. Given that I will be storing most of this stuff in -20 C as a solid bottled under nitrogen I do not think it should be so much of an issue

The post is older but my reply is for archive purposes:
1. It's prohibited to import Medications from abroad as a private person. Only pharmaceutical companies with the right importing licenses are able to import something from abroad.
2. You want to eat Viagra which is 10 years old? Sildenafil Citrate can be stored for up to two years and that's it.
3. If you want to buy fair priced Viagra, buy smaller amounts (90 tabs for about 100$ for example) if something happens (customs, parcel gets lostetc.) your loss is not so huge.

Bye
