If U went 2 jail... (it cant be that bad)

i was in county for a short while. not a long time but every day is the same so i got to know what its like.
All the stories about ass-raping and such are exaggerated but not entirely untrue. In county this does not happen. It is when you go to state and federal prison with the real hard-asses and sociopaths that you have to worry. I was told in county that if I went upstate that nasty nate would think i have a pretty cute ass. Apparently the best way to avoid getting raped is to do just that, avoid it. Dont run your mouth or put yourself in a situation where it is possible that you will be assaulted. Dont accept "gifts" from people like cigarettes, candy bars, or pot. However, if they really want to get to you they eventually will. Then your only option is to fight and win, and in most cases they will be coming for you with 3 large guys against just you. But, it isnt something that will definately happen. What you want to do is stay in county prison with guys who cant pay child support or have too many dui's or sell pot.
Yes it is very boring and yes it is about being as comfortable as you can. I basically watched TV all day and tried to sleep as much as possible. You might think that this isnt so bad but it is. I didnt even get my own cell i was put in a room with like 20 other guys on bunk beds. Its hard to have conversations because everyone is bitter about being in jail and you obviously dont meet too many dynamic personalities in there. I also shared a single toilet with all these guys. They had a bottle of disinfectant that you sprayed the toilet with before you used it.
The food was absolute shit. They didnt give you any real meat, everything "meat" was processed soy and made you shit like crazy. They put additives in the food to lower your sex drive, and alot of the time you didnt get enough. Not that you wanted to eat what they gave you in the first place. Everyone gets their own food from the commisary and hoardes it like its their stash of dope. No one is going to give you a fucking cheese curl if you are down on your luck.
When I first got there I was put on the intake block where they lock you down for about 22 hours out of the day and you cant do really anything except look at the wall and wash your socks in the sink. I actually didnt mind this so much because i didnt have to deal with 19 stinking and stupid men all day, but there was no tv or books.
It is a little bit maddening when you start thinking about the fact that you are locked in. Most people are not confined against their will in their life, and it is this state of confinement, a total lack of free will, that is the worst thing about prison for me. that and the fact that i slept with two inches of plastic matting between me and a steel slab. that gets on your nerves because you cant really ever get comfortable.
mostly though its not extremely good or extremely bad, its just time. i always felt better at night because the day had passed, which didnt make any sense because i knew in the back of my mind that i would just get up and do the same thing the next day and the next.
I guess to sum it up it would be like groundhog day with cigarettes and bad food and and uncomfortable bed. Not terrible, but enough to know you want to leave and not come back.

I have a comminsary list on my computer from a supermax facility in Massachusetts. (thats where my friend is at) This is the meds they are allowed to purchase themselves.

Spent 3 days in Correctional Facility - worst experience of my life. Difficult to sleep, food sucked, constant fear, and being strip searched is quite invasive. Guards give you no respect or concern. Heard horrible stories of inmates with mental problems - they may cut you or wipe feces on you. Having your freedom taken away and thrown into a dirty, hostile environment will challenge your sanity. Regarding cash - none allowed in the facility I was in, but you earn "credit" thru work. You can purchase items with credit, which then become your "money" in the prison barter system.

Simple solution- Don't do anything that could get you sent to prison!
I know we all do some things that could get us in trouble..just be careful I guess.
If I went I would probably read and work out a lot. Try to keep to myself. Fight anyone I had to, but definately wouldn't look for a fight. Maybe find a tough lesbian lover and we'd watch out for each other. heh..

My girlfriend's brother did a little time for a couple DWIs. It was only county lockup, but he said what you expect about jail from the movies isn't really the way it is. They separate prisoners so someone who commits tax fraud isn't going to be cellmates with Hannibal Lecter.
With that said, he told me that if someone starts with you it is best to stand up quickly and decisively, that way even if you get in trouble you will avoid fights and more hassles for the rest of your time.
He also said working 12 hours a day was the best thing he could do with his time there. He worked on the loading docks and eventually got to be manager of the work crew there. He had his own desk and got to eat any of the food that he wanted.
But, he also said it is extremely boring and lonely, as well.

I know a couple of people who have been inside for 10years+ and have let a few details out which are absolutely disgusting. As a few people on that spr.org say, they don't tell anyone what happened - not gf,wife,parents, whoever... in one persons case - who wants to tell your loved one that your new 'daddy' made his 'bitch' (you) swallow his piss because he didn't wanna go to the toilet?
Interestingly enough, just today on ABC radio here in Australia, they were talking about violence in prisons as well as rape. They government might come on the news and say 'Rape isn't a problem in our prisons - we have only two reported cases in the last year'.
Yeah right.. how many report it
You wanna survive in prison, you DON'T speak up against the poor guy next door being abused. Nor if you are being raped would you... prisoners have strict rules; being a snitch is a punishable offense to them heh. A lot of people give in to being someones 'bitch' through fear alone.. they might not even be assaulted.
Don't except favours. Don't except gifts. Those who show emotion are considered weak, and weakness is preyed on.

I'm currently waiting to be sentenced on the 10th May for Drug Charges in Australia. Though I'm feeling positive I won't be put in prison, I'm scared shitless that it could happen and I have no control over it.
Reading threads like this really makes me realise how real my situation is and how If I am put inside, how I will cope.
I'm the perfect target for an ass-raping. I just hope to hell that shit like this doesnt happen in minimal security prisons.
