Heroin How long can a missed shot take to absorb?

HELP! Heroin, missed shot, drug test quesiton!

I am new to a suboxone program. I go to outpatient meetings and a doctor and get tested once a week.

I slipped up and used on a Friday and Sat morning (get tested Tuesday afternoon and wed morning) I slipped due to a stressful family event. I shot dope, but it was dark garbage that didn't give me a rush. My arms swelled up like an allergic reaction, and I discovered a lump on my left arm. It was pretty big, not red or warm. I was worried it was an abscess, so I put neosporn on it and soaked it in warm water. I was tested on Tuesday and Thursday and BOTH testes were positive! I may now be getting kicked off my program and I am freaking out as I have resolved not to do any more dope and stick with my treatment.

my worry is the shot missed (I couldn't see the blood in the register because the dope was so dark) I didn't get a rush so I think I missed, and that's why the lump may be there. I am worried the dope is "STUCK" in my arm and is SLOWLY releasing itself and that's why I failed. Dope should be out of my system in 3 days. I used Sat morning and it still showed Thursday morning, FIVE days later.

Is it possible I missed, and the dope is like..... sort of stuck in my arm? The lump has gone down in size but has not disappeared. It has been 6 days. I may get kicked out of the program (I had to deny it. they said the Benadryl I take may have caused the FP but they will do some kind of confirmation) It would REALLY help if I passed all future drug tests though.

does anyone have any experience with missing shots and taking drug tests? Anyone know how long it could take to be released in my system? any input would be VERY helpful because I am FREAKING out right now.

If I get passed this incident so help my God I am not doing this SHIT anymore. the suboxone makes me feel normal and I need it to function.

Nowadays there are tests that test for metabolites even if it's just a dip test. Metabolites will show up for two weeks even with one use.

Besides mentioning that drug testing questions are not aloud on this forum so this is the best answer you will get.

okay, then let me ask this at least ... if I missed a shot and that is the cause for the lump under my skin, which is getting smaller, could that cause the dope to be released so slowly that I would show positive for days longer than I would usually?

Drug testing questions are not open for discussion on BL.

Nope, that is basically just your body trying to deal with the after effects of the missed shot. It shouldn't take much longer for it to absorb than IM/SC shots. It's not like there is this pocket of heroin solution hiding out in your body. If you have an abscess you really need to get it looked at though.

Hopefully you don't get kicked out of your program. There is no reason to freak out about this. The tests you've missed already are the only issue for you, and if the doctor prescribing you buprenorphine has a clue you won't get kicked off just for one or two or even three dirty tests, particularly if you've only recently transitioned onto it.

Precisely. Something that might help you understand the mechanism a little bit better: When one injects a substance intravenously, it is introduced into the bloodstream in the fastest way possible. The veins and arteries are the most direct route, hence produce the quickest effect. Now, we migrated to Intramuscular injection. Intramuscular injection produces a pretty quick effect as well, as our muscles are served by the same veins and arteries that I just mentioned. The amount of energy that our muscles require mean blood flow in and out of said muscles must be quick.

Now, our entire body depends upon oxygenated blood, but systems like your skin, adipose tissue etc. require significantly less blood and thusly will produce a slower onset and generally longer duration of effect. In short, something injected into a large muscle will be metabolized fairly rapidly, whereas an injection into say, adipose tissue is going to take a longer period of time to be processed, metabolized and excreted. Even if you don't inject directly into a vein or a muscle, your body will still metabolize the drug, but it will take a significantly longer period of time.

If you're looking for a "real-life" example, Insulin is administered subcutaneously for the reasons stated above. Ask a diabetic if their "missed shot" will still keep them alright.

No, dope will not be somehow released from a missed shot. It would be absorbed much like skin popping/SC injection. You're not going to hear differently, and this is (again) a drug testing question, which for better or worse is not permitted on BL.

I understand you're worried about this, but you have nothing to worry about! If you looked elsewhere on the net you'd find that this won't be an issue. And again, dope is not going to get released from your missed shot over a week or something. It's already been absorbed by your body. If anything you'll have to worry about metabolites, but those should also be out of your system in a week.
