Benzos How is it true that narcotic prescriptions have soared when they're so hard to get

It seems like doctors and facilities are afraid to prescribe narcotics. My dad, a dying vietnam vet in a lot of pain, can't get either klonopin or lortabs anymore. Since his VA doctor cut him off he managed to get a few scripts for lortabs from a doctor who told him to go to a pain clinic. At the pain clinic he said the doctor barely listened to him and flat out refused to prescribe him any opiate.

I've managed to get at least one dose of a benzo at the ER for my panic attacks from time to time, usually ativan, but waiting in the ER for relief from a panic attack is ridiculous. Every mental health facility I've been to either refused to prescribe me a benzo or had one on call but only gave me hydroxyzine because I apparently wasn't "freaking out" hard enough.

What blew my mind is recently I was recently refused gabapentin in a facility to get my anti-depressants lined out because I don't currently have a doctor and I was almost out. According to my NP the facility I was in had recently began refusing gabapentin because, as my NP said, it has a street value and the government is, apparently, considering on making it a controlled substance.

I'm sorry but being afraid of gabapentin is ridiculous. I can understand benzos and opiates but not gabapentin.

I've heard a family doctor is the way to go, and I've been asking around about doctors who aren't afraid of benzo scripts. I was even told to go to the suboxone clinic even though I am in no way addicted to opiates. I was told they prescribe klonopin with no hesitation but once you get a benzo script from them no other doctor will give you one.

I hate how people take benzos to get "high" there is no high. If relief from anxiety is a high sure, but people banging 5 bars just to numb their mind, lose their reasoning and coordination, and pass out makes absolutely no sense to me. I don't understand why I haven't been able to get a script after almost 10 years of struggling with anxiety while I always hear that narcotic prescriptions have soared.

My Doc gives me 60 stinken valiums a month. I'm sitting on a script that he dated for the 30th, what a numnut. :)

lol, bro, always go to your family doctor/ general practitioner. I aim to see the nurse practitioner, cause 8 out of 10 times, I always get what I request, usually just my klonopin and adderall, my NP was so cool, she left me with the option of choosing my klonopin dose and how often daily, as for adderall, I was easily put on 30mg twice a day right off the jump. as far as opiates, I never tried asking, as I was on suboxone at the time. just recently I went go my doctor, when I was off subs, and complained of leg pain from a surgery, and she first gave me tramadol, then after I complained about that, was given dihydrocodeine. After that I gave up trying as I didn't wanna red flag myself ss there is a huge opiate epidemic. but yea, seeing a family doctor is the easiest way to get your meds. I always get my Xanax or kpin, my dose requested, and my adderall.
shrinks are an utter waste of time snd energy. you have to meet with a counselor a few Times before even seeing the doctor, and when you finally do, these psychiatrists never listen to you, they dictate what they think you need, snd have every excuse as why not to prescribe controllers. mind yku4, s psychiatrist is linked to office of mental health, so if you got any addiction on your record, they will know as they get your whole file faxed to them to review before seeing you. FUCK THAT, atleast with a family doctor they aren't doing an investigation on your last. a lot kf family doctors got a complex that they don't have a speciality in the field , leaving them wanting to help patients and play the psychiatrist role themselves as they can prescribe same as specialist,

I live in the USA in New york, and benzos are fairly easy to get along with amphetamines . some doctors are anti benzodiazepines , so once you get a good doctor your locked in.even my doctor gave. me 90 day supply, which mostly only shrinks can do

Ketamine can help you off opiates. I went from Opana and Percocet daily, to cannabis and occasional ketamine infusions. Look it up.

I'm on that 90 a month 3mg a day klonopin son. The tolerance builds quick as fuck and sooner or later you have to taper off. which sucks complete dick from what I hear.

I have learned quick that after taking Klonopin more than one day in a row your tolerance builds immediately whereas one Klonopin will be ineffective forcing myself for example to take one and a half Klonopin to get the initial desired effect I first got. These drugs truly are not meant to be taken everyday otherwise they become ineffective

Hey Speed King,

I just had my consultation for this and will be starting in 10 days. I've already done a metric fuck ton of research, but if you've got first had experience, I'd love any information you could provided. With you being a mod on here, I'd imagine you here and see a lot more than I do.

Any references or information you could provide would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you in advance!

But to OP, I agree they've gotten more and more difficult to get. Hell my PM doc left the industry due to all the regulatory changes. I'm trying to be off everything, so I'm ok with my extremely diminished supply each month. I'm requesting even that amount down another 25-50% this month. These things don't typically provide long-term relief. I thought they were my savior about 5-7 years ago, I was sorely mistaken on my way to a 400+mg/day oxy habit. I average less than 20-30mg/day now with many days trying to kick them and not taking anything. Best of luck regardless.

One other thing, even with that insane habit, a 3mg/day long term xanax dependence caused me much more mental terrorism than that insane oxy habit listed ^. For the record. You're looking to obtain some seriously slippery slope meds.

I don't even know where to start.... first of all 3rd world problems? Aww poor baby has to wait in the ER for his Ativan rofl people don't even have hospital care in most countries for serious problems and diseases relax on your Ativan lol...

Second off you can't "bang " bars dude what are you talking about ? Xanax isn't water soluble
Also gabapentin does have a "high" maybe it's not like people think, and maybe it's not a high but that's unrelated completely to addiction .
I have an entire thread on gabapentin withdrawals buddy it's no joke and I'd take 100 opiate withdrawals over gabapentin withdrawals ....

The prescribing jump you described happened in 2000-2012ish and slowly slowed down to what's 2017 where it's super controlled , it really slowed down the last 2 years with the opiates ... anyways my 2.5 cents

For all seriousness ketamine infusions also take away any desire for opiates. It also lowers your tolerance for opiates.

I would seriously look into that.

Medical cannabis works wonders.

IMO, support your local cannabis legalization effort. Believe me, police* would rather you support legalizing weed then a lot of other dumb shit that people do.

*more and more police across the states are supporting legalization. Too many sources, including my own personal sources, show this to be fact.
