The paper by Fischer et al., from 1995*, discusses a highly abnormal reinnervation patterns of serotoninergic axonal sprouting were observed 18 months after MDMA administration.
Does any of you have any more information about this long-term effect of the MDMA on the brain ? e.g. has anyone studied the behavioral changes due to this "highly abnormal reinnervation" ?

* Fischer C, Hatzidimitriou G, Wlos J, Katz J, and Ricaurte G (1995)
Reorganization of ascending 5-HT axon projections in animals previously exposed to the recreational drug (/)3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA, “ecstasy”).

Well the ref has Ricaurte in the name so I’m gonna write it off instantly even if it is good research. He was quite obviously a government pawn and his little “mistake” has sullied any further research that he may put out there. It’s obvious he has bias clouding his view.

Magic Is fucking medicine when used properly.

MDMA in high and repeated doses causes serotonergic 'dendritic pruning.' They grow back shorter and denser. Short term memory loss is often observed.
