So 2 years from last posting here, and my sibling is using heroin again... My parents are now too old to be able to deal with his addiction and I just have no idea how to talk to him anymore... The pandemic has made things a lot worse as far as complete isolation, depression and frequency of drug use... How on earth do I help someone who is losing hope and has no social interactions? Is there anything you would have responded to as an addict in recovery?

I once read an interview from a person in recovery saying it wasn't "hitting rock bottom" that made them quit, but feeling some hope, having something to live for. Is this true in your experience?

If we cut all ties to him, I worry it will be an even more dangerous situation, facing heroin addiction, isolated, with nothing (& no one) to live for.
