EDIT: the "friend" is obviously me, I thought we weren't allowed to speak in ways that incriminate ourselves. ALSO please read my reply on this post (as well as this post) where I elaborated a bit better. I was panicking when I wrote my original post so it's unorganized and a little confusing.

So a friend of mine, her name is A has turned purple the couple times she has done methamphetamine. It also happens when she drinks energy drinks but not as bad.. for a while there her body did it without any sort of chemical intake... when there is pressure on the skin for even just a moment, it'll turn white and stay that way for a long period of time. Her hands will also lock up pretty bad. A feels really stupid for doing meth when she has some health issues. But she thought she could mess around with party favors just a little since she got a heart procedure to fix her Atrial Septal Defect/PFO. She went to the hospital when it (it meaning the purple skin and such) happened last and when she was hooked up to the heart moniter, every time she went from sitting to standing or laying to sitting, her heart did an extra larger beat (which actually never happened before the heart procedure) And the more stressed she got, the more purple she turned.. the doctors said she was just dehydrated and "panicking," not caring about her about her heart issue since she got the ASD/PFO closed... and saying there was too little meth in her system to cause a reaction like that on its own... A believed them so she did meth again last night and its happening again. A is also on a blood thinner, Plavix, but A doesnt think thats the issue since she is now remembering this has happened before she got her heart procedure and was on blood thinners when she was on 5MAPB, nitrous and cocaine about a year ago. A knows, shes gotten a little bit crazy so please dont judge.. its not often she messes around like that, she just goes too hard when she does. A needs to know if anyone has ever experienced anything like this? Its scaring her and doctors arent helping and discharge her before really checking her out even though her cardiologist TOLD her to go to the ER. She will to to the ER this time if it gets any worse, she knows this is not a site for medical advice, she just needs to see if anyone hhas experienced the same thing or can give her an idea of whats going on so she can maybe bring something up to the doctors that'll spark something for them. And she will NEVER do anything like this again... Also I am sorry for awful grammar and if post is confusing a bit confusing...

It's called Cyanosis and Raynaud phenomenon. The skin turns bluish due to a lack of oxygen supply to skin. The lack of supply is caused by vasoconstriction that amphetamines induce in combination with your heart defect. And don't say it was your friend, we know it was you who took meth. Vasoconstriction is the biggest problem with amphetamines, it's in fact the top problem that we experience here, I personally take Clonidine to avoid most of it.

What happens is, while on amphetamines, blood vessels narrow from O to o, so, not sure if fluid flow is something you understand but, for the same volume of blood to reach an area, the discharge pressure is increased, same as when you squeeze the tip of a hose, the discharge pressure of the water increases so the water sprays further. The heart needs to work harder in order to ensure the same volume of blood reaches an area. So if your skin turns blue it means your heart is too weak to operate under such vasoconstriction. So you need to vasodilate, or increase blood pressure.

If the blood pressure is insufficient, eventually no oxygen will reach that area. Like if there's not enough water pressure in your hose, if you squeeze the tip even harder, and harder still, you can completely block the flow so no water will come out. So stick with my water hose concept, taking amphetamines is like squeezing on the tip of the hose, if you take too much, you squeeze too much, you can block the flow, and then they need to amputate your limbs and throw your limb-less bust in a wheelchair. I'm pretty sure you don't want that to happen to you, to take amphetamines you still need your arms.

It's also pretty dumb to keep taking drugs when you have such a negative affect. If something terrible happens to you, you had plenty of warning.

What's going on is that her heart is too weak to support uppers. The rest of her body is perfectly fine but her heart is too weak. If she got her heart replaced with a stronger one, she wouldn't encounter this issue at all. It's only a matter of time before she dies due to heart failure or before her limbs are amputated.

I know you guys know its me. I thought we werent allowed to incriminate ourselves on thisbsite and had to speak in third person.. i knew everyone would know i was talking about myself....so.. vasoconstriction... my skin turns red, then purple, once it was almost black.. and I feel hot as hell and start to sweat. One time (before my heart procedure when this thing happened to me without any drugs, just stress or even excitement) i literally watched my feet turn red, like they filled up tith blood from my ankles, in seconds the purple followed... then I watched the same thing hapen to my legs at the same time as my arms, then my abdomen and my head felt all this pressure, my face started to turn red, and thats when I laid down (I was sitting) andbit slowly went away. When I slouched my legs would start changing color but if I sat up right it would go away. Like I stid the first time it happened I was on quite a few drugs thatnight.. but it started doing it allll the time after that.. then went away after my procedure and now onlyseems to happen when I drink energy ddrinks or the two times I did the dope... and sometimes if I cross my legs or ler them dangle... does all that sound consisten with vasoconstriction??? I remember doing meth years ago for a little while and I gray and blue, and cold.. this seems to be different.. also it seemed to happen lonnng after the high wore off.. even with the energy drink or stress or whatever.. its after the effects wear off.. is that normal? Sorry for my completely awful original post.. and sorry for going into so much detail now, my heads clear now and I realize my original post is very... unorganized. Lol

Yes I know. Ive had it happen so much without drug use.. that I didnt realize the drugs like... brought it back. And brought it back tenfold. I see it now and am definitely never touching that again. Luckily I dont really care for it much and was just bored. I used to do it years ago and it didnt do this shit to me so I didnt expect it. Which was dumb.. I should know better, I know my heart is fucked up and know its not fully better.. I honestly feel dumb as hell.

it happens often with amphetamine use

Yes, its due to lack of oxygen to the brain! Amphetamines are vasoconstrictors, leading to these physical symptoms for example your face looses color due to vasoconstriction.

At one point in time I was abusing the hell out of MDMA and was taking ridiculous amounts during weekdays, like 2-4x a week with doses ranging from 250mg-750mg. On top of this, I wasn't eating much and was also coming off 3-4yrs of methadone maintenance at a whooping 200mg/day. Health wise I mostly just took multivitamins, some Omega 3, and drank lots of different teas.

Not to mention that I smoked a ton of tobacco in every way you can imagine - Capitan Black, all the flavors they offered at least once in those big 50g pouches like Cavendish, Cherry, White/Gold/Black - Philly Blunt, I would actually inhale a good portion and tried all the flavors they have several times even - Cigarillos, Prime Time, which I would smoke by the 100x once I had an Indian reserve hookup, Capitan Black, Moods, Toscanellos, Colts, Old Port, Honey T not to mention Cuban Cigars - Romeo & Juliet - minis, medium size, big size - Montecristo, Cohibas, H. Upmann - different numbers/different sizes - Posting this and looking back I was a big time tobacco smoker - id of course partly inhale the cigars especially the good ones at the very beginning of the cigar. I miss it no kidding eh :) Sorry to derail!

I would get up from the chair or couch I was sitting on and after 2-3 steps my field of vision was completely overtaken by what seemed/looked like the disturbance you get on tv when a channel doesn't work, that white & black increasing each second covering my field of vision! Also, sounds would go way, way, up in pitch, whatever was going on at the time, be that the television was on or someone besides me conversing. If you've every had a hit of nitrous oxide you'll know what I mean about the high pitch sound. Not only high pitched but going seemingly 1000 words per minute to the point I would only hear the sped up version. Right after this, and most concerning of all is, I would collapse! What I mean by collapse, is I would fall/pass out/faint!! Wherever I was, I would find myself a couple tens of seconds later, on the ground with no recollection of the actual fall. After re-gaining consciousness, not instantly but rather gradually. I noticed the deeper I would breath the quicker I would recover! I would slowly get up from the ground and breath deep, while my vision would return to normal, along with my blood pressure.

When this started to happen I was only 23-26yrs old by the way. This happened to me about 25+ times, several times in front of my mother!! It really scared her, as you may imagine!

With amphetamines I have quite a bit of experience mostly from the age of 13yrs - 16yrs, after which I switched to using opioids and no longer needed amphetamines. The amphetamines that I did use included in order of most used are Dexedrine 10mg & 5mg (my favorite), Adderall time release 20mg, 25mg & 15mg as well as Vyvanse 30mg later on when it more recently came out. Ritalin also but that isn't an amphetamine. I've tried methamphetamine about 10 times maximum though. I smoked it 4-6 times, snorted it 2-3 times and ate it orally once or twice. I like methamphetamine the least, after that its Ritalin and then Vyvanse. Adderall is just okay but Dexedrine is the most euphoric.

Every time I use amphetamines (Dexedrine) my immune system would significantly be reduced the following days after stopping not to mention psychological & emotional exhaustion. Adderall, vyvanse, and Ritalin all do the same. Even ephedrine lowers my immune system.

ps. Where I live methamphetamine is extremely cheap, cheaper than weed considering that 1 point is $10 and lasts a new/newish person 3-4 days of use whereby the user is high non stop! Even worse than the low financial aspect of it is that crystal meth has become easier to get than weed, for example if you move somewhere in a new area and don't have a weed hookup you tend to go around the neighborhood and ask for chronic, except that everybody you ask says 'I can't get you any weed but I can get you jib/crystal', or that 'I need to go quite a way for the weed but I can get you jib/crystal right now'. It's absolutely everywhere and b/c of this, people who you would never in a million years suspect or ever think they would be even be weed smokers. These are kids that go to a sleepover with say 4-7 people, some that come from farther away cities for that night and one will pull out a meth pipe and say 'yo man this is that puro, let try some'.

I met one guy who was 15 or 16 who had come over to sleepover at his friend's place, the guy had come here from a city about 15-20km away to hang out with his friend/friends. He never smoked weed, got drunk maybe once or twice in his life and that weekend they smoked and injected crystal meth. You know how kids are though...they lie lol, but when I met him, it was I think Monday or Tuesday and he was at the city' soup kitchen where he had been waiting for several hours, had a few meth dealers pass him several times. I asked if he smoked and gave him a smoke and started to engaging in conversation. I told him I was there to buy whatever opioids I can find, and that's when he told me his story. I asked what the heck he was doing, not going back home & staying in the city. He revealed to me that he was there looking to buy crystal meth, and told him that several of the guys who passed by him were selling. He said he knew and they even asked him if he wanted to buy but he only had $9 in his pocket. Poor guy I thought. I thought I might convince him not to do any more of that and maybe buy some opioid to get over that craving and still be happy he didn't waste his money. His mind was set on the meth however and while talking to him my dealer showed up with some opioids he had hydromorphones but nothing I was looking for since I don't inject it was pretty useless and quite expensive. He asked the guy if he wanted and he asked if he would give him a point of meth for $9, but the dealer made me give the poor guy $1 so he could get his point. I did this and stuck around to find some other opioids. About 20-30min later I see this guy again, I asked how much he had left. He said he'd gone up in the stalls and shot up...the thing!

Yea before my body started to do the purple thing I started having fainting spells. Just like you explained with the fuzzy vision and everything getting really loud. I've had it happen before and had no idea I had something wrong with my heart. Drugs definitely irritated it. Lol but anyways, are you sure it's vasoconstriction? Because I do not get pale, at all. It's the opposite.. I turn red and then purple. And I swell up too. Also, Jesus dude you've had some crazy amounts of drugs in your system. And have you ever had your extremities hurt like hell and be tingly and numb at the same time???

Heard lots of reports of this with heavy 4mmc use. Back before it was banned and people were more widely using it and heavier doses

It's either broken blood vessels, hypoxia, or heart or lung conditions... I'm putting my money on the heart condition, She should see a cardiologist. Also stimulants are very hard on the heart, and she should avoid them with her condition!

3-FPM used to give me horrible purple skin in places. Feet and knees especially.

Knees and elbows were also the places I had heard, odd that blood vessels would burst in those areas

I don't know what that is. I know the first time I turned purple like this was after really heavy 5MAPB use (on top of ketamine, coke, GHB and nitrous) for three days straight. This was before I knew I had anything wrong with my heart. And I do have a cardiologist. Like I said, I got the PFO closure device implanted in my heart back in June. I've only done stimulants twice since then, and im seriously never doing them again. They weren't my thing anyway. Lol

Yea it seemed like the purple started at my ankles, knees, and elbows.. then would fill all the way up from the bottom. It's scary as hell. Especially because I started getting it all the time. And I also started having severe nerve pain all over my body. The worst pain ever.. it lasted for months and my body parts would randomly swell. Im still in constant pain and can't feel parts of my body.

I try to steer people away from research chemicals now. On top of all the stuff I've told you guys, I had a stroke. And the doctors were shocked I could move the left side of my body. They still don't know why i was able to move. I had a full blown stroke, someone mentioned to me it's possible the mushrooms kept my neuropathways open during the cell death but who the fuck knows? Anyways I'm still dealing with shit. My body is never going to be the same. Constant pain. My limbs are always falling asleep. I can't feel parts of my legs and arms and even abdomen. It's like numb patches everywhere. My muscles grow so weak sometimes I can't even hold my eyeballs straight or my head up. I know you're thinking "why the hell did this dumb chick do meth?" Well I hadn't done drugs or anything since all this shit started last year... then I got the heart procedure and figured my heart could handle some... it's the only time I've felt normal since all of this shit started last year.. . Until I came down.. then the purple thing happened again, along with all the pain and numbness coming back hitting me like a ton of bricks.

Sister, if you take a fan on which it is written "2x 4.5V AA Batteries", you split the + and - wire and plug it into the 120V outlet, what happens? The fan burns to shit! Why? Because it cannot support 120V as it was designed to support 2x 4.5V.

Your body was not designed to support that much meth. Move on.

I feel for you hun, all those health problems are terrible and I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy!
That being said, I know you know this already, but with your deteriorating health, I would suggest avoiding drugs like the plague, especially stimulants!

We've given you our best guesses, but I don't think we're qualified enough to diagnose you. Please see a specialist, and if they cant diagnose you, see another one, until you get some answers!
