Have to say though I’m pretty surprised you’re doing that task. Surely you’re flat out with your own patients?
So far removed from the testing, thankfully. There are huge tents set up for walk in testing in most towns. The practice has to do twice daily testing though, hence the boxes of tests we go through. I've had a fair bit of time off recently however. Umm'ing and arr'ing about leaving general practice in general though.

You’re mad to consider leaving general practice. Easy street kid! I’m currently writing up a study in regards to capsular warning syndrome, I’d take GP work any day.

capsular warning syndrome
sounds complicated.

i would argue that bioinformatics is easy street but possibly not for everyone. computing is a piece of piss once you've designed algorithms for quantum computers and biosciences sorely need algorithmic and engineering capabilities. when i moved to industry i got to dictate my terms of employment and salary.

If I could go back in time, I’d quite fancy a bash at being a virologist. Quite fancy living through Resident Evil.

Starting to be a crutch, it’s safe and steady money, but it’s soul crushingly boring. The amount of feet, ears and arseholes I see is beyond ridiculous. Wish I specialised, always had the aptitude for it.

Rose tinted glasses anyone?

Specialising comes with a mountain of paperwork, I promise you you’d run right back to the practice after a week! Lol!

Also, it’s really not too late to specialise if you so wished. One of my colleagues started on that path at 58.

Plus you must be on a canny was. Surely you get the odd surprise and you're helping people. Why don't you join the red cross or work over seas or something?

What a dote! Very easy to train and especially so if play/food focused.
Yeah sorry but that's youtube bullshit which only applies to puppies.
The only way I could get the previous one to release his football was by getting another football and kicking it away, trust me I tried all the youtube bullshit that was the only way non violent way to go.
I could have used a noose and pulled it cutting off the airflow/electronic zapper which would get him to release the football promptly.
That's now how I like to work.
It'd taken over a year of doing that, daily training, and shouting at him before he succumbed and understood the command but only when he was drained of all excessive energy.
He once even bitten me in the head just trying to grab the ball, totally good quality that one. I could explain why there were some people who once saw him at it's best did a u'ie if they spotted me and him at 200 yards. Life's too short.
It'd taken three months of treat training for him to understand stay, sit, lay down command that one was easy.
He was three years old when I got him. Got him from a so called 'I train police dogs for the Miami police' idiot.
Luckily he was never maltreated just never properly trained.
Once they're a bit older I find them hard to train because they're so hyper.
A malinois is like a labrador on coke and boozed up.

Not a fan, they have no facial expression.
They most certainly do, getting one to show their expression is another matter as they're so hyper and just want to go and sniff stuff out or go and kill things.
Once they reach a certain age they reach a new level of understanding/appreciation of their owner which is why I was totally gutted they killed the last one.
He would be submissive and lay on his back every day for me just for cuddles.
Just ask I can post pictures of facial expressions of the previous one.

My father bred hunting dogs and had GSH dogs also. They are incredibly easy to train. The dog clearly needs to be exercised first if he is still displaying dominance. You should never have to use force or those horrid collars in order to get the dog to obey you. Working with them takes skill and patience. If you’re getting bit then I’d worry for what type of dog you’re creating.

Today I began some basic exercises in java

I haven't coded shit since I had my Amstrad CPC 464 30+ years ago when I was younger than my daughter is now

It's less mind numbingly boring than I feared it would be, so far

There's biting and biting.
That bite is like his mum used to do as a way of saying no.
With the size of the jaws he had my head fitted right in and it didn't even puncture any skin.

Why is the site black today? I thought we already did the black thing for 2021

CH, who used to moderate H&R and helped me in my early recovery, and has helped countless people on this site, has died.

he was a smod and has been a massive part of this site for a long time.

Smoke rocks you lust after two kinds of crack (one potent smoked coke & the other gynaecologist related) yet 5 mins later you feel cheated as they are both nothing truly amazing.

I swear stone is the biggest fuck about in the dope world
