Hey.

I was wondering how much Gabapentin contributes to CNS/ Respiratory depression?

Also is it safe to combine with Opiates (Codeine/ Dihydrocodeine) or Benzos/ Thienos (Diazepam/ Etizolam).

Cheers.

Gabapentin respiratory depression is very minimal, nothing like opiates or benzos. If I had to guess I would say it would probably potentiate respiratory depression by 10-20% at a couple thousand milligrams. It's fairly okay to combine with other drugs.

I read the other day that morphine increases the BA of gabapentin, I wonder then if codeine, being a prodrug that metabolizes into morphine, would do the same. Either way as Cotcha Yankinov said, in general it's not a great risk, although there are reports of deaths where gabapentin was taken with other CNS depressants, though I imagine in those cases the Gabapentin probably was not a major factor in contributing to the fatal CNS depression.

Thank you both. It seems to add up with what else I have read over the Internet.

Cheers.
