I've been on all the pain meds and bupe seemed to keep me stable and help the pain. Lately it's made an apathetic PoS and I want to switch to Butrans patches with the as-needed full agonist for the bad spells. I've been on bupe for 12 months, from 8 - 16mg per day and my doc just gave me some 20mcg/hr butrans patches.
I've heard low-dose bupe is better for pain than high dose. I'm at 8mg/day and getting the patches tomorrow. What kind of taper/hell should I go through to get off the bupe tablets and rely on just the weak butrans patches. I have a few pounds of PPT on the way to help.
Once I get to the other side of this magical journey I should have a 20mcg patch and the occasional oxy to keep pain free and sane. I've been on opiods for a few years now.
