Cocaine First time cooking up maybe wrong?

My friend decided they wanted to spoon cocaine. They got a gram of "fishscale" (89-93%) from somewhere and decided instead of snorting they wanted to try the spoon method. I guess anxiety got to them because they took a 1/4 g and put in spoon, sprinkled some soda on top of it and added just enough water for it to be sludge- stirring it with a needle. They then put the spoon over a tea candle and let everything bubble over low heat then took off, stirred again, then put it back on until it bubbled and chunked up.. then they took the needle and dug under the product getting several diff sized balls.. this person had some brass screens so used them instead of chore, and folded 3 of them and stuffed them into a stem and packing it with a chopstick until no openings on the edges. they then took a little piece off the spoon and put in middle of the screen and when they hit it all went through the screen in a matter of seconds... you could see white through the stem but then nothing.. even though they were still getting a hit nothing was visible. They said it felt like butterflies in their legs/stomach so they put another in and did it again. The next rational moment they had was they had smoked so much ( 2 hours later) and was shaking so bad they couldnt even load the pipe up. There was also some burnt char on the screen like it was soda or something.. dont think they were doing it right. When they tried to do push throughs on resin the stem broke. Seems the gram lasted about 4 hours total between the time cooking/geeking. Is this normal for this to happen? or should a gram last longer than 4 hours?

they said they wanted to get some more this weekend.. because every time they smoke a cig its in like 3 drags and imagines that cig being glass....
