ive seen "requiem for a dream" and "the rules of attraction". these movies are definately not for the weak at heart.

up next are "pi" and "clockwork orange"

i need more suggestions of provocative disturbing movies. (please no spoilers!!!!!)

p.s. add "bumfights" to the list of seen. if you havent seen it yet, its...disturbing as well. its a different disturbing, disturbing nonetheless. some of it is funny, some is fucked up shit created by really sick people. be warned if you havent seen it. i suggest watching if your into the above movies.

for "provocative disturbing movies" i highly recommend you start with idioterne and festen.

all of David Lynch's work, especially Lost Highway

most of Cronenberg's (sp?) work, most notably IMO Crash

Check out Happiness or Welcome to the Doll House, I'd also agree with Negative about Lynch, Blue Velvet, in particular, is seriously disturbing.

^yeah, totally spaced on Todd Solondz's work . . . that guy is creepy.

If you want to see a fucked up movie, though I don't necessarily think it's disturbing, check out Takashi Miike's "Ichi the Killer"or a handful of his other films.

I also think this great Korean film called "The Isle" could definitely be classified as disturbing. There were many times I had to turn away, not necessarily because it's gory in any way, but after you see some of the things they do to each other with fishing hooks, it gets to you.

There is a movie I watched a while ago... I think it was called "Generation X"... It had Rose McGowan? in it and that guy from Independance Day as well... That movie was really fucked up. Quite disturbing to watch stoned...

*edit* After 5 seconds of research title of movie is 'The Doom Generation'. Fucked if I'd know how I managed to pick this up at the video store among the myriad of movies available but don't regret one bit of it :)

I saw a movie about 15 years ago where a guy answers a payphone and it's a soldier calling from wherever, saying that the bombs are on the way ( I'm sorry I don't know what movie this is - if you know could you tell me?) This movie left me with a feeling that I still get if I think about it - ultra creepy! I don't want to ruin the ending, but It fucked with me for years

The one part of Audition that has stuck with me is when the girl is sticking the needles into his eyes and saying what sounds like "kitty kitty kitty" as she pushes them deeper. I think out of Miike's films, "Audition" is a bit more disturbing since it's not as absurd as some of his other works.

Watch Baise Moi (Rape Me) french flick, very disturbing, actually famous for people walking out of a theater during the movie. It's kind'a soft porn version of thelma & louise but with a 'french movie' feel it it. Hard to explain, I guess you just have to see it.

strangeland i think the guy from twisted sister amde it or stars in dee sniders or something
thats a fucking creepy disturbing movie

Gregg Araki films (the Doom Generation, Nowhere), Todd Solondz films(Happiness, Welcome to the Dollhouse), Darren Aronofsy (Requiem for a dream, pi) and also 'Gummo' is quite disturbing....
Audition was good, especially the part with the needles in the eyes ("deeper, deeper, deeper") and the guy is paralyzed so he can't do anything...

^^^ gummo is definately disturbing... the whole time during that movie i had one of those "omg wtf" faces. :) that movie actually took place near me... and ive been to that town a few times to visit friends... ill never go there again :(

another good movie to watch is "irreversable" its a french film. make sure you get the french one because they put it out in the US too but edited some of it due to its graphic nature (the 15 minute rape scene for example).

gummo, bully, pi, requiem for a dream, house of 1000 corpses, nowhere
