Searched and could not believe there is not a thread for this movie, it should have won best foreign film at the oscars last year

could not agree more with you guys. this easily is one of the best movies ive ever seen.

1. the soundtrack was perfect

2. the visual style beats any animation/computer-aided or rotoscoped movie ive ever seen. Each scene was truelly a piece of art that could evoke emotions on its own. I wish there were more movies in this style.

3. Emotionally powerful - Slaps you in the face with depictions of what war really is and what mankind really does.

yes that was definitily one of the most aestheticly pleasing scenes in the film for me too.

I watched one of the special features on the dvd that described the making of the movie and apparently that was the first scene they drew when creating the film, and that it inspired the coloring for the rest.

I also really loved the seen where they were interviewing that guy who hid behind the rock until sun down and just swam out into the middle of the ocean, and had to swim back to his team because he was so afraid of being caught.

same here, I watched the movie after a small bowl and was just really caught up in all the thoughts it provoked about war in my head, then out of nowhere boom. the last scene comes on and it totally caught me off guard. so sad. The next time one of my family members decides they want to join the military im going to show them this movie first. I think a lot of people have misperceptions about what war really is because it is often glamorized in the majority of mainstream movies/TV. Many teens just sign up expecting to recieve money for school without really knowing what they are getting themselves into.
