I found some old Seroquel in the medicine cabinet that I want to use to help me sleep. However, the expiry date is October 2014. Is it still safe to use them? What do drugs have expiry dates on them? Do they degrade over time?

it is impossible to say what will happen, maybe a carcinogenic compound was formed, maybe nothing happened, maybe the active compound is no longer there, who knows?

You can still take them ...as long as they have been in a medicine cabinet that entire time, then they are fine. Most meds last up to 10 yrs, unless liquid. I just took some 10 year old prednisone, and they were still very good.

Lots of meds have strict expiration dates much more to encourage people to toss old drugs to avoid abuse and to limit liability. It's quite unlikely that anything formed that would hurt you in a dry pill bottle

Honestly I would also try it. 25 mg is the smallest amount, just try. what's gonna happen?
