HI, I've been prescribed benzodiazepines form sleep and anxiety, at first it worked weel but with some memory impairement, but now. It's been less than a year at the equivalent of 3mg lorazepam/day. And the only thing I can feel (for the last 3 months)from benzo is amnesia. No sedation, no anxiolysis, no relaxed muscles basically nothing. Even using lyrica 600mg once every 3 days is more satisfying than benzo at a dose up to 10mg lorazepam.

So I was wondering if I simply build tolerance quickly or if anything else can do that. I mean 8 months of benzo use and its worthless no matter the dose. Kinda sucks.

Tell your doctor that. 3mg Clonazepam will work better. just let the doc know that it's not working.

Yeah, sounds like tolerance.
The hypnotic effects of benzos usually don't last longer than a few weeks, but you could try a Z-Drug like zolpidem.
As speed king said, you could try and switch to another benzo, because lorazepam is seen as one of the weakest benzos.
But better tapper down and try something new, like CBT

You could actually try etizolam which has a very odd behavior. It has what is known as reverse tolerance the longer you take it apparently the tolerance goes down, I can not remember the mechanism of action that causes this, but keep in mind this does not mean you wont get addicted and go through WDm just that you wont build a tolerance in fact it means that it gets stronger as time goes on at keast that is my understanding.

Yes, there is reverse tolerance to its anti anxiety action.

According to Wiki, in rats, no binding site downregulation happens with Etizolam while it does with classic Benzodiazepines. It was also observed that rats don't get as tolerant to Etizolam's anticonvulsant properties as they do with something like Lorazepam.

Problem is everytime a doc (psychiatrist or generalist) see that I take 10mg oxazepam twice a day and 30mg flurazepam they freak out and say I should stop taking it and start talking about SSRI which I DO NOT TOLERATE (but to both psychiatrist I saw the problem is that I apprehend the effect... how can apprehending an effect will raise your BP by 30% and make you want to kill anyone you see, give muscle spasm headache nausea, seems like a serotonin syndrome to me).

My present doc prescribed lyrica to further reduce my benzo use which is good 1 day on 3. The thing is my problem was solved by benzo and the only thing the psyhciatrist want to do is get me sober because to him I have no problem other than physical unknow issues so he want to sober me up to see a generalist. The thing is the same thing happend with 3 generalists that just gave my file to specialists and specialists (I am 18 and ive seen 14 specialists for the same problem over the last 3 years) they ended saying it is Anxiety and sent me to psych and now my psychiatrist want to get me totally sober and move on.

I dont think it is a tolerance because If I take like 300mg flurazepam equal to 7.5mg clonazepam I dont feel anything more than memory loss of the period I was on it.
Is it possible that something is blocking the effect of GABAa at a precise part of my brain which would make me feel the other effect but not this one (implying that it is the sensorial diminution)

To inform, I have chronic oversensitivity to my senses and racing thoughts headaches that makes me want to blow up my head, I also have muscle cramps and spasms which makes it hard to control the intensity of my voice. It seems like nothing but remember looking directly in the sun, what you eyes feel, I feel everywhere always and in every sens. Looking less easy to support..

Sorry in advance, since I don't really have anything of help...

But let me guess: you're from europe?

SO many german doctors (many other european countries seem similiar, though) refuse to prescribe benzos, even for severe cases.

There is so much scare-mongering, hysteria and generaly unobjective sentiment sorrounding benzodiazepines, it's crazy. :(

Canada :( My doc is not a private one, that is why. If you get a private doc in canada you get a drug dispensary but in the system they are OVERPRESCRIBING antidepressants.
