Stimulants Dopamine and brain damage from Amphetamine

I'm a little worried that my amphetamine use is starting to cause damage to my brain and / or dopamine receptors and would like to know if I am just overthinking everything or if I should start to take it easy with stimulants. I has been using amphetamine once a week for a couple of months, never more than once a week. My speed is pretty high quality and my preferred dose is around 50-60mg orally. However, these past 2 weeks I have take 100mg and 120mg through snorting. And I almost always take 1-2mg xanax to sleep. Obviously I doesn't want to cause any permanent or long lasting damage and wants to know if I can continue with my schedule of once per week or if I should change it to once or twice per month instead. I usually never have any bad comedown either and usually feel pretty good the next day apart from a mild headache and somewhat tired. I has never felt depressed, severe anxiety or anything out of the ordinary.

However, I have sometimes started to feel like I have a hard time to remember things, not like I forget stuff completely. More of a feeling that it feels like the stuff I did the previous day or a few hours ago didn't happend. It is hard to explain but I know exactly what I did but it still feels like it didn't happend, if you know what I mean. Or can this be because of the Xanax?

Anyway, do you think I have suffered some longterm damage to my brain and / or dopamine receptors? Am I safe to continue? Thanks in advance!

Xanax side effect. Also malnutrition and sleep deprivation. Sleep deprivation is worse than smokes.

No long term damage. There are many studies on those who are diagnosed ADHD and use amps daily (with T-breaks). The thing that really fucks you is sleep deprivation, and lack of physical exercise, and malnutrition.

Are you worried because of what's happening to your brain now? Have you considered taking a completely sober break for a month and gauge how you're feeling then?

tl;dr you're fine! Your dosages and timing are on the easy side, so you have absolutely nothing to worry about. I would take this brain damage paranoia as a sign to stop for now.
And even though there aren't any long term damages...this is not a pass to keep dosing higher and higher...hahaha. You're chill :)

How does one define damage?

For example most people can feel damaged depending on your own beliefs , goals, spirituality. Vs objective measured damaged to the brain.

Not trying to say one subjective is any less important. Just that i doubt your cause physical damage to the brain associated with high use amphetamine use esp impure amphetamine.

I think based on the type of things i read ive come to nearly identical conclusions as people using very different language which makes more confident it is accurate

When i take amphetamine it causes a increase in activity and a decrease in effort eating, resting, sleeping, and increases stress. over time without spending time doing parasympathetic behaviors (rest digest cleaning grooming ect) i dont get any positive feelings from amphetamine. Theres alot of mumbo jumbo ive read but basically i think our bodies need lots of sh**. So when i put lots of foods with lots of colors, fibers, food groups, protreins, ect i feel a heck of alot better

please don't use SWIM here. it affords you no legal protection and is just kind of a pain to read.
in future please post in the first person singular.

Once a week 50-60mg amps orally with 1-2mg xanax after is probably not causing any long-term harm, just a touch of tolerance. You may simply be imagining the memory issues, since you're looking for them.

However try not to change ROA to nasal, as that's likely going to be more addictive, and stay away from those higher doses as best you can.

9/10 times I take it orally in gel caps so thats what I am going to continue doing. During all these months I have never felt addicted and can easily skip a week or 2 if needed so I think im clear on that part. I also drink a ton of water during the time and force myself to eat.

But since I tend to overthink stuff I was a little worried that I had / going to cause long term damage to things like dopamine receptors, cognitive functions etc.

I think we all overthink this stuff. Just switched from 70mg of Vyvanse (due to insurance issues) to 30mg of Adderall twice a day. Got really close to a full blown panic attack today. Does anyone else take this dose? I'd appreciate any feedback.

I doubt that 50-60 mg once a week will do any significant damage, but as CFC said, better stick with using it orally than snorting it. And imo you should try and reduce the alprazolam dosage

I took vyvanse for (likely misdiagnosed) ADHD for 4 years, 5 days a week in high school. I was only on 30mg, but by the end I felt completely worn out and damaged by it. I highly recommend not taking stimulants. After my bout with it I was left extremely unmotivated and unable to get myself to do anything without it. I wish I'd never tried it because nothing is the same now, I've struggled to find moments of true happiness and feel like I'm smart or good at anything. I have absolutely no doubt that stimulants do damage to the brain over time- it depletes your dopamine stores, making your brain unable to produce dopamine on its own. I still take it occasionally now because I feel like I have to even though I absolutely hate it now- it just makes me anxious, on edge, and unable to sleep.

I wouldnt say i feel brain damaged but i feel less of a problem not really better at getting stuff done focus or memory.

I feel more of a pack vs I if that makes sense. I used to fight everything cause f*** that. Now im listening to avril lavigne vs before id be watching hardcore porn. But i feel like on adderall i dont really care. Or if im doing chores vs working on stuff i care about i feel less of a difference so i do more chores. Or if they want me to go to something and sit there i think is bull i feel way better at just sitting bored.

This isnt bad because i got myself in alot of trouble just fighting every rule and law cause i felt bored.

But this could just be me growing up as correlation doesnt equal causation.

I take 30mg of Adderall twice a day. Have been for about 2 years now. I've never had a panic attack or anything, and I haven't really experienced too many negative effects from taking it. However, I do agree with betman, sleep deprivation is really what will fuck you up. And of anything that I have experienced, negatively, over the course of my 2 years taking Adderall, it is that not sleeping takes a toll on you, mentally and physically.

I'm curious though jperkins79, switching from 70mg Vyvannse to 30mg Adderall twice a day, do you find yourself sticking to the recommended dose? Or do you take more or less in a day?
